Well, at first I thought the eyes were ears, because they close when they fire. I was thinking that blinking was a way to protect the sensitive speakers from damage. However, I realized that this couldn't be the case because they cannot hear very well.

But then why do the eyes blink at all? They don't have biological eyes, so I don't see the mechanical implication of having the eyes be able to close. To keep flying objects out of the lenses? Maybe, but why blink so often? It doesn't make too much sense...

And if those were eyes, I would think that they could see a bit better than they could. Those eyes are on the sides of their heads, you know. It would make sense if they could see a bit better...
