Hi Mah name is Sir and im really confused to what armors I should use.. Should I stick with the cobalt line, or mix it up.. I like to use a sword and a gun at the same time but I dont know what armors to choose for a hybrid. Suggestions please :3

Cobalt is very OP, go with that.

Don't listen to Mystrian, Cobalt is only good for the first 2 bosses after that your will end up fighting against more Shadow and Elemental enemies, plus those statuses will be much more prevalent and powerful in deeper levels. (and cobalt doesn't have any status resist)

Focus on getting armors that allow you to protect yourself from each damage type as well as statuses. Another thing to consider is the boosts they give.

The wolver lines give boosts to all the swords you use but specialist armors give all your weapons power against a certain monster family.

The only thing Cobalt has on it's side is affordability, it is much cheaper to use it as an armor for the who game but in the end you will greatly appreciate any other armor. Having some extra damage or resistance to status is worth far more than any amount of money you save using cobalt gear.

Amass yourself a large arsenal of 3 star weapons and armor to play with and make your choices from what you like the best.
Quick note: Some armors and weapons can change as you level them up, many 5 star items have much different stats that their 3 or 4 star versions so be sure to do some research.

obligatory

For a hybrid sworder-gunner, consider the Wolver, Gunslinger/Seerus, and Chaos lines. Maybe you should give the Armor section of my detailed sword guide a read.

Ty 4 the advice, Is it viable to go split defences with armor? (Example, having helm with elemental def, and armor with shadow def.)

@draon-sir

Considering that I have beaten the entire SK campain, I would recommend you to get full sets of elemental and shadow gear, mixing them will still make it very easy for high tier enemies to kill you.

For shadow resist: I recommend you to try out a combination the divine veil and armor of the fallen.

For elemental resist: depending on your preferrence, nameless set or vog cub set would be nice, or mix them up.

yes, but

Yes, that is viable.

However, as I explain in the guide that I linked, damage defense should be a fairly low priority in how you choose armors in the first place. In more detail, your top priorities should be offensive bonuses and maybe resistance to fire, shock, and/or freeze, which can really wreck you. Damage protection and stun/poison/curse resistance are less important.

Split is middle of the road.... not bad, not good, still viable

Split defense is fairly viable.... more viable that having the wrong defense. Still in the end it is better to have pure defenses fore each situation.

Sometimes you have to make choices based on status resist and not damage resist type.

For example: Fire fiend levels are pretty hard and there are only 2 armor sets (Fallen set and Divine set) that resist both and one has a large damage penalty against fiends. Supposing you have only a Shadow resistant set with a fire penalty (Valkyrie set) and an Elemental resistant set with a fire resistance (Grey Owlite set) it is actually safer to wear the elemental one since you won't have to worry about fire as much.

Is there a good set of armor

Is there a good set of armor that is cheap, easy to get and is effective towards what ill be facing later in the game? because im clueless

Most armor sets are relatively the same price to get

Towards the endgame you will be dealing with lots of different status types and damage types, there isn't one particular set that isn't without some drawback or another.

For the last mission you will be dealing with lots of Fire and some stun and shock, the monsters in the very last mission will be mainly dealing Shadow and Normal, but for the boss you will want Elemental defense.

For the safest set you will want to invest in Some Grey Owlite and some Divine to help cover some normal and shadow with a good helping of Elemental and fire/shock resist.

A set with this for defense should be good:

http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Grey_Feather_Mantle
http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Grey_Owlite_Shield

The armors you need to get to craft these should also help you survive the second boss as well since that level focuses mainly on shock and elemental.

You may also want to invest a bit in the Dread Skelly line http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Dread_Skelly_Mask
and the Skolver line http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Skolver_Cap
to help even out your defenses and status resist choices

so many ideas already

We've already given you many ideas. We haven't told you exactly what to get, because there isn't one answer that works best for everyone. All of this armor costs pretty much the same amount and is easy to get, except for Seerus, Snarbolax, and Black Kat, which are harder or more expensive.

To be more explicit, try looking specifically at these armors:
* Vog Cub: sword offense, fire (and normal, elemental)
* Skolver: sword offense, freeze (and normal, piercing)
* Shadowsun: gun offense, poison (and normal, shadow)
* Chaos: massive offense, lots of penalties (and normal, elemental)

Do you want an even more explicit answer than that? Do you want me to choose your armor? Okay, let's say...Vog Cub. It's good in Firestorm Citadel, which many players end up playing a lot.

Gear up to survive first.....

Gear up to survive first..... play it safe while you learn how to combat each enemy then later in the game you can work on playing with more offensive armors.

1. Defensive
2. Basic offensive (gunner, bomber, striker sets)
3. Glass cannon (Chaos Cloak, Black Kat set)

Go with Chaos set

Chaos set with bristling buckler shield (and/or Barbarous Thorn Shield); find magic armours with med+ UVs at AH, forge up from there. I have just about all the armour sets, but I rarely use anything but the Chaos with buckler. Good luck!
