Instead of an energy system or a cash shop, how about ingame ads?

I wouldn't mind seeing ingame ads or hell, even 10 second video clips before entering a dungeon, if it would remove the energy system.
Thoughts, everybody else?

If you wouldn't mind Ads, then you don't browse the web enough. They drive any sane person insane after a while...especially on heavily advertised sites.
No one (except apparently you) wants them in a game.

Ads tend not to work at all.
Ads tend not to work at all. EA has tired multiple times just to find that the gamers are too focused on gaming to pay attention to ads. Also, in many cases it annoys people who just block all the ads and ruin profitability. Like in my case, there is not a single advertisement in Youtube visible when using one of my computers.
@Pauling: Yes, we need an "I'm new and need to voice my opinion about energy. By the way, what is Search?" section on these forums.

If ads were so good, wouldn't
If ads were so good, wouldn't every game be doing it? I don't think I've seen a single 'good' game use ads for payment (excluding the website and I know nexon has some after you close the game but their mostly non-intrusive) so that kind of tells me how 'great' it is.

I once played on a Ragnarok
I once played on a Ragnarok server that had Ads for loading screens. They replaced a natural occurrence with a method to make money.

Seriously, though. NO ADS!!!!! I will wait 24 hours or spend ungodly amounts of crowns, or.....GASP......spend REAL MONEY once or twice to play some marathon sessions.

(ads make me crazy. I will refuse to watch an interesting video online if a stupid ad comes on and gets in my face for 15-30 seconds before it will even start to LOAD what I wanted to watch in the first place. And don't even get me started on the ones that ask you which ad you want to watch and will pick FOR YOU if you don't within 10 seconds...ooooOOOOOOoooo....it's like asking someone if they want their penis cut off with a rusty corner iron or a spoon.....anyway.)

Can we get a single sticky thread for complaints about the energy system? (or suggested alternatives) There's an awful lot of these threads.
Not a fan of ads myself, esp. video clips. Besides the slowdown in performance and the very low payment per player, you have to worry about problems with integrating them into the game realistically (are they custom jobs? That'll deter clients until your game is a megahit). And if the ads involve code, suddenly you have the risk of a rogue advertiser infecting your customers' computers with who-knows-what.
