Our first project, Slime Rancher, is a frantic, chaotic, and very silly game for PC, Mac, and Linux. Slime Rancher is the tale of Beatrix LeBeau, a plucky, young rancher who sets out for a life on the Far, Far Range where she tries her hand at making a living wrangling slimes. With a can-do attitude, plenty of grit, and her trusty vacpack, Beatrix attempts to stake a claim, amass a fortune, and avoid the continual peril that looms from the rolling, jiggling avalanche of slimes around every corner.

Figured I'd share it here since many of you may be interested in what Nick is up to.

Game made around Slimes.
There are Ice-Slimes with ice on their heads.
Far, Far Range sounds almost like an Aurora Isles level.
Mascot is a Leafeon?

Is Monomi like a running gag, like with Disgaea's "Asagi" or something? I need confirmation that Monomi might be in Puzzle Pirates, STAT.

I don't think it is, but they seemed to get upset if I didn't. Feeding them is also the way to acquire plorts.

Does that goo The Tarr leaves behind wherever it goes have any function (like creating more Tarr, hurting or capturing slimes, etc.), or does it just show you that a Tarr is nearby?

Time Travel...

We all do know that this is almost year old news right?... hmm, besides that I am super hyped for this, didn't the original trailer say it was coming early 2016 or something? I NEED TO KNOW

The SK/pokemon/Zelda references are literally oozing out of of SR (which it must be referred to now because acronyms are cool) what with the name of the company the leafeon logo and the SKish art style (and yet somehow cuter, which I didn't think was possible) and the Zelda-esque Open world with dungeon/cave like areas abounding. Not to mention the fact that the game is about slimes and Nick is the father of all slimes.

*Collapses in catatonic anticipation as he slams his face into the "Sign up for our newsletter" button*

P.S. How does one get into the Alpha/Beta whatever this is? Is this a "Sign up and enter/maybe enter" or did you get in just because you are known to Nick and or the other developers?

P.P.S wait a mo' Is there a wiki I can go look for confirmation of something? Because by the way it phrased (feed slimes get plorts) and the way I saw you collect them In the video (like comment subscribe your welcome) it appears that you are collecting and then selling (or whatever you do with them) slime excrement (which I am totally fine with, It actually for whatever reason makes it cuter to my sick mind)

Slime Rancher is a blast! Just be warned...even though it's in its early state, it's already addictive! Hopefully they won't mind me putting this here, but, heck, welcome to the party! Here's the email I got:

To kick things off we’re opening up our current pre-alpha build of Slime Rancher to all our newsletter subscribers! That’s right, no teasing screenshots or gifs of our slimes in action. You get to see it for yourself!

Here’s how you can play the pre-alpha build of Slime Rancher:

Step 1: If you haven’t done so already, please register for our forums at: forums.monomipark.com. Registering on the forums is required to gain access to the game, give us feedback, and stay in touch with all your new rancher pals.

Step 2: Check out the playtest guide stickied on the forums. It will contain the download links, username and password required to play Slime Rancher.

Step 3: It’s time to dig into Slime Rancher and have fun!

While playing we’d greatly appreciate if you would submit bug reports. Press F2 in game to submit a bug report. Not sure it’s a bug? Send a bug report anyway. Does something look strange? Send a bug report. Are you in a spot where the balance feels off, you computer starts screaming, etc? Send a bug report. The bug reports know where you are and where your vac is pointed at the time you press F2.

We’d also love it if you could post additional feedback on our forums. Anything from simple suggestions to exhaustive walls of text are thoroughly appreciated. We’d love to hear what you think.

Please also remember to include important things like your OS, anything you know about your hardware, etc.

If you are a Twitch streamer or YouTuber: You’re free to stream and post videos of Slime Rancher. However we ask that you make it clear in the video description that this is a pre-alpha build of the game.

A wiki is hopefully on the way, I've sent a request on Gamepedia to make one so hopefully it'll be up in a while. Monomi Park weren't planning on making one themselves.

Well, I've played it now, and...

THE SLIMES ARE SO CUTE

Though I dislike it when I forget to feed them and they start jumping over the walls of their pen and eat all the hens.

I even bought the high wall upgrade...

Also, see Boop! achievement.

Tabby slimes are adorable.

Just played an hour or so, most addictive game ever, I love everything about it. I don't have enough time in the day to get in my SK, Lol and Slime rancher fixes... and then there's Christmas to worry about, a whole day gone without gaming ;_;

Well, I've solved my jumpy slime problem.

Tossed half of them into the Slime Sea, now that corral is completely under control.

I also managed a phosphur slime corral.

At first, I would lose half of them daily because they can fly and jumped out of the corral during the day. Now I have an air net and higher walls, so they're all staying in place.

Slimes are good at teamwork. When I still had too many pink slimes, often they would stack themselves on top of eachother, lean down over the corral wall (even with my attempts to prevent that), lower themselves into my chicken coop, eat every hen hen I own (starving my tabby slime in doing so), and then put themselves back in their own corral again.

Yeah my slimes tended to do that as well, But I bought High Walls and a Music Box and they seem to be fine now. Ironically, Its my chickens that seem to be going after the slimes. While gathering excess hens for my tabbies to eat, one of my roosters hopped on top of another hen (probably just a glitch... hopefully) and casually floated over the top of the fence. What it did next was a bit weird though, instead of going off to the grotto, which it was right next to, It casually pecked and flapped off in the opposite direction, to the opposite end of the starting area and into the mouth of a pink largo that was eying my carrots... Maybe a bug, these suicidal roosters, though it would be cool if it was just a rare thing that chickens have a masochistic streak that flares up occasionally.

I've been playing this game and I love it to bits. All of the slimes are adorable and make adorable noises. I was really surprised to find out Nick from this game was working on it. Might buy it after release, I'll see where it goes first. (Honey Tabbies are bae)
