I found this email in my inbox (for the email I use for Spiral Knights, among other things.) A: How did this person get my email? B: What the heck? C. How did 'she' both get my email and know that I play Spiral Knights? Am I being tracked?

I am creeped out and not replying to that email unless I can actually meet this person in a less...weird way. Probably in Spiral Knights.

You are experiencing a PICNIC ERROR!

Or secret admirer...that's almost more dangerous than an overly attached stalker.

Also, I'm not replying to the email. I'm a bit scared to, and I don't really see why I should. But then again, how else will I learn more? >.<

Lol, don't worry

This is a bot, I can tell.

An actual stalker would never use 'dearest one' to adress their stalkee.

I should know. I have a lot of experience in the stalking department.

You probably either clicked something or was just chosen at random.

Just thought I'd pop in to say I got an identical email. Probably a bot as others have said, but I thought I'd let you know you're not the only one.

Don't be scared, It is the e-love knocking your door!! :) :) :) <3<3<3

Do not heed the words of these fools, there is no such bot thing, it is just a girl that seeks your love and nothing else, how wonderful.

Let me tell you about the story of Narcissus and Echo: One day there was this hunter dude named Narcissus in the forest who was very good lookin, but he was kind of a jerk so he rejected all those who loved him. A nymph named Echo saw him and fell deeply in love, so she followed him through the forest, when Narcissus saw her he was like "lol gurl u ugleh go away", Echo's feelings got rekt hard and she spent the rest of her days alone and sad until there was only an echo left of her. But then, Nemesis the godess of revenge, made Narcissus look at his own reflection in a pool and he fell in love with himself, and since he could not love himself he kind of killed himself or drowned? something like that.

The moral of the story is: never reject a girl dood, because then you will get owned by a godess and drown... I dunno what do you want from me?.

What bothers me is that the killer found your email address and knew that it was related somehow to this website...

@Aviri

Narcissus was probably just gay.

On a more serious note...

A killer or a stalker? hah... that is the least of your worries. The world is a very big place with many, many dark corners for the filth and scum to gather around, it could be a rapists, kidnappers , slave traders, and the list of evil things they could want to do to you is quite long... I'll leave that to your own judgement.

But there is no reason to be worried my friend, that mail indeed looks like some sort of bot or spam mail that just seeks to lure out an innocent/stupid or REALLY desperate guy to gather information about them for purposes that are unknown and could possibly be all of the already mentioned, but it's just that, a hook, if you don't fall for it and give all your personal information to this "female" then you should be allright.

Just had to post this because the thought that someone might take my previous post seriously was consuming me. (theres always a "smart one" who takes it seriously)

This is funny. After being sick for a week, I'm kinda loling.

But what I want to know is how it associated that email address with Spiral Knights. No one has answered that yet.

Well... since in the mail you got only mentions spiralknights.com and never says anything about a game...

It could be that you're following spiral knights on some site like facebook where your mail account is public and the program looks into that to send the spam.

It could be that your mail has been hacked.

It could also be [[WARNING, CONSPIRACY NUKE INCOMING]] that some internet service providing company sold all your personal data to the devil... It's not like I'm trying to blame google or anything... *whispers into your ear* it is totally google.

Yeah, you're being tracked somehow. If you found your computer's clean from viruses and malware, try downloading Ghostery to block trackers. It's freeeeeeeee.

'And then I have a theory that you've been tracked somehow through tracking cookies, but the only trackers on the SK website itself are Facebook on the main page and Google Analytics. Read this and that , too.

Edit: 'Kinda interesting and debunk my theory because sites you visit with SK stuff may not even share the same trackers or ads. If you don't get little advertisement-boxes alongside your screen when you open your mail/inbox, then-- I really, really, really don't how your stalker-lady found out that your email address has an SK account.

@Aviri

I don't use Facebook/Twitter/Redit. I use Steam, but that has a different email address in it, if I'm correct.

I hope I haven't gotten hacked, but then again it's really easy to hack gmail, if my sources are correct.

@Swikee

I do need to check for viruses, actually...one of my computers will get an overhaul soon, and the other one has been stagnate. Will do virus scan soon, though! Ghostery isn't needed; I use Noscript, so I can just block every script except the ones I specifically need.

Like I've said, I'm blocking Google Analytics. (That thing is so creepy...)

At one point, I did get little advertisement-boxes, and they were creepy. They always were meaningless, of course, ("Lady in Afghanistan is selling 40 Dark Shards for less than $100. WOAH!" sic) but they were related to the content of any page I visited. I traced these to Google Analytics, and I got Noscript to shut them down. There is a chance that I did get on some email list at that time.
