Hi, I am new.
Welcome to spiral knights and to the forums.
Feel free to ask questions, post suggestions, chat about LD, play the market, or just revel in the insanity that is gremlin chatter.
And if you need any in game help feel free to ask for it here, make friends, join a guild, and fight your way to the top of the prestige ladder.
due to the servers there is usually a lot of lag in most places
and sometimes it flat out kicks you off and you need to log in again
Latency is always going to be an issue with online MMO games, yes SK has lag issues sometimes but a great player will find a way to play with lag.
People use "meta" in a lot of conflicting ways. Do you mean, what kind of goal can players seek to accomplish, when they have already beaten everything in the game? Here are some ideas:
Accumulate fancy UVs, even though you don't need them in PvE.
Try every kind of weapon. If that's not enough, then collect every 5-star item.
Discover new techniques for weapon switching, charge canceling, etc.
Try to discover good uses for weak weapons (shard bombs, Iron Slug, etc.).
Collect data on weapons, monsters, missions, etc. Try to reverse-engineer the rules of the game.
I was told there is a "ranking system" added to the game and that guilds use this as a measurement upon joining one. Is this true?
What I understand from looking up definitions of metagame is that they are strategies players use, and poking around I hear that building up to a Blitz needle is somewhat ok. I also read that there are statuses and "types" (norm, ele, pierce, and shadow) that you need gear up for. Having read this info, I feel that Blintz isn't the right choice cuz' it's only pierce right? (but cheeze filled blintz are good :)
Blitz needle is not necessary, but you will need one for your end game vanaduke grind, or become a bomber and get shivermist buster. Either way, don't expect to be carried through the grind every time and get a blitz needle just in case, or strike needle.
Don't expect the free colbalt armour the stingy spiral order gave you is going to carry you through the entire game, get wolver coat and sell the colbalt. Don't ask me why, just do it!
Oh and don't forget, check out MidnightDJ-SK on deviant art and I will draw your knight like one of my Fancy French Girls for free!
Sadchan, you might want to read some guides on the wiki, starting with my own detailed sword guide. It teaches you about damage types and how to plan your equipment, if that's what you mean by "meta-game".
Yes, Blitz Needle is very powerful, and every knight should eventually own one. The fact that it's non-normal is good. You just have to pair it with the correct other non-normal damage types, depending on the level. Yes, blintz are tasty.
Bopp, your sword guide was where I got the info on damage types, no need to post it again :p
I don't really think Guilds decide recruits based on the ranking system. To be honest, I don't think the ranking system is good for anything outside of bragging rights. Although, the ranking missions (prestige missions) tend to be great places to get a lot of loot.
You only need Blitz for the endgame areas where Menders can create barriers and Trojans are more commonplace. Up to that point, you're free to use any kind of weapon you want.
Midnight is right in that the Cobalt set of armors the game gives you is useless. Get a different set of armor, but not necessarily the wolver set. You should make Wolver sets if you're planning on primarily using swords, the gunslinger set for guns, and the demo set for bombs.
Or, you can get a set of defensive armor if you're a more defensive type of player. In which case, I recommend either the skelly set (which the game gives you for free) or the magic set (which you have to craft yourself).
Lag can be very dangerous in this game, since a single hit (depending on your armor) can easily wipe out almost half of your health.
Hi. Welcome to Spiral Knights. Enjoy your stay.
