You could swap out the vog coat for snarby maybe.
Fire isn't as much of a problem as it is in regular fsc since the zombies do curse breath (if you remember them from the black kat events) although it's still good to have some resistance in there since other attacks still do it.
You might want another weapon slot in case you get cursed, since if you have no curse resistance and only two weapons you won't be able to do anything. Or use the curse perk on your sprite (I don't remember whether that's enough)

If you are going to use curse resistance, you'll want to aim for either +5 or +7 (max + low or max + high, respectively), as those are the values that let you keep an extra weapon (5) or vial (7).
Vog = better at fighting Vanaduke, who deals elemental + normal
Snarbolax = better at fighting carnavons, who deal shadow + normal
The decision is quite inconsequential, so it's really whichever you'd prefer. I also updated my post with information on sprite perk.

BTS is indeed still the same shield strength for sword offense tradeoff in ufsc.
If you have ancient plate shield, volcanic plate shield, grey owlite shield, omega shell, omegaward or crest of almire, bringing one of those might benefit you over your barb thorn shield. Ancient plate shield and volcanic plate shield would help you on trojans and vanaduke's mace, grey owlite/omegaward resist vanaduke's bullet phase, crest of almire gives you more protection against the carnvaons, and omega shell is just going to be better in general, but not against those specific areas. It's really up to you though- all would work for you.

Survival is key
Omega shell is a good choice due to it's massive HP
A Divine Veil/Ancient or volcanic plate armor combo should cover you from the incoming damage types
Of course Curse and shadow UVs are greatly appreciated and those tend to sell cheap on Magic and Plate line armor anyway.
Of course before attempting any shadow lair I would suggest looking up various videos, collecting several dozens of sparks, and clearing your daily schedule because SLs are LOOOOOOONG and you don't want to leave in the middle for something that could have been prevented.

Lmao Holy, Own-Deschng doesn't even have enough fire crystals to heat their blitz needle to level 10 yet... if they used plate, it would be low in level, making it even more useless whereas offensive items don't benefit so much from the heat and therefor need it less. Divine veil is a good item to bring, but mask of seerus + a weapon slot would really help them charge their blitz needle, and would do the exact same thing as having curse resistance+a low UV.
Volcanic plate + divine veil + some curse UV:
+A good bit of normal
+A bit of shadow
+A lot of elemental
+A good amount of fire resistance
+Some curse and stun resistance
+Damage vs fiend med
- Negative attack speed
Seerus + Vog + a weapon slot:
+A lot of normal (I believe more than with volc plate + divine veil)
+A lot of elemental
+A good amount of fire resistance
+The same number of free weapons after curse (one)
+Sword attack speed increased: med
+Handgun attack speed increased: low
+Handgun charge time reduction: med
One of these sets is almost completely lacking offensively, whereas the other lacks only a bit of shadow and stun resistance. I mean they would both "work" and it's a matter of preference, but I would personally go for the bottom one. As much as I like defenses, sacrificing weapon buffs is just too tall of an ask for me, but maybe you feel differently.

I don't plan on doing a SL till I'm fully prepared, whether that means saving a ton of sparks and heating the perfect set I don't mind.
If this guy wants to head in with no curse resist then that is fine by me, besides it is easy to get a low CTR uv on an autogun (AH prices on them spikes past low).
Of course I don't plan on soloing either, I would recommend finding a group that has already been through UFSC before and taking armor cues from them, cover their gaps and if they have none play the survivalist.
FYI Fehzor the second set you mentioned is one of my current FSC sets, sure it works good but would I use it in a level with prevalent curse? I'd be less likely but since I haven't made a curse counter set I probably would. (of course that doesn't mean I can't rock in my low level Volcanic plate mail)

If you want to be "fully prepared" then just get the weapon slots and don't worry about curse. The OP doesn't want to do that so that's why alternatives were suggested.
Volcanic Plate Mail isn't so bad, I used a semi-heated one in there and it was pretty good, defense wise.

Level 10 boltbrand is going to be better than level 1 DA. That's just how it goes.
If you aren't going to be using a weapon slot then you'll want to invest in at least 5 curse resistance, so that you can always attack and are never stuck running around with one weapon because that sucks. Unless you already have a curse resistant armor lying around somewhere, the weapon slot will be cheaper than trying to accomplish this with curse resistance. If you really really don't like the idea of using a weapon slot then sure, go craft divine veil. It's not a bad item. It's just not stupidly powerful like your seerus mask is.
You could also use 3* valkyrie armor, if you really want to rely on actual resistance. When combined with seerus and the highest possible curse perk, this will yield:
Less defenses, but still kind of decent
Curse+5
Fire+2
+Lotsa gun stats
+Fiend low
I'm not sure that this would actually save you much though and it would really be a kind of bandaid fix as you probably don't want to be using the 3* valkyrie armor for the rest of your time in game. Similarly, you'd probably need to be a decent enough player to really pull this off. Lastly, there is the possibility of a trinket. If you used the 5* trinket and sprite perk, you could save yourself that way.

A level 10 DA is by no means
A level 10 DA is by no means a slouch in the damage department and with Slags coming tightly packed in FSC it actually can do more damage per charge than brandishes. Until it is lvl 10 though you will have to play slower. If you are going to lose your slots don't worry, if I remember right SK handed out a trinket and weapon slot sometime around Christmas.
You also have to be prepared for the sanctuary, this means research and preparation for the item you plan on getting. If you are really patient you can save up, collect SL mats and armor with well placed uvs from the AH, then just play till you have enough orbs, CR, and sparks to get through any SL and craft all the armor in one go.

You've got a pretty good loadout for the run, but I would highly recommend getting a third weapon slot and bringing an extra weapon- this would allow you to shrug off the curse status by way of always having at least one weapon to use at all times. The extra weapon to fill that third slot could be quite a number of things, one of which you probably already have. Basically, any elemental handgun, most haze bombs, divine avenger, it really doesn't matter.
As for your sprite perk, I would recommend either curse resistance or shadow defense if you'd like to be a bit more defensive (neither of these will make a huge difference, but over time they'll make you a teeny bit better), or handgun damage/charge time reduction if you'd rather be a bit more offensive. Blitz needle does a pretty excellent job of receiving damage and charge time reduction boosts, and the boss fight at the end will go better because of it.
Beyond that, making certain your party is competent is the biggest thing you can do to guarantee yourself a victory. In fact, I would say that your party matters significantly more than min-maxing your gear does.
