Any money making tips? I'm having a hard time being profitable. Are there certain places that are better than others? Tiers have seem to make no difference (just difficulty).
Money tips?
just go arenas, solo tier2 arenas and you get 1-2k / arena
Well, damn. Didn't think about that. That works also. Any active ideas (although yours was perfect; I can use my spare energy for that)? And Tier 2 right now isn't worth it; the arenas are at the beginning and give very few crowns. I was grinding tier 1 arenas (which were at the bottom) and netted about 4k per 80 energy.
Yesterday my party and I did Tier 2 from Moorcroft to Emberlight, and I got about 8k for ~80 energy :) No revivals were needed, either!
I'm fairly certain there's at least one arena below the Clockworks Terminal/half-way point. If you don't like to grind, don't spend 80 energy to go to the Arena just before Emberlight :)
There's always the good ole fashioned trading system. Last time I checked someone was willing to pay 2000+ crowns for a Meteor Mote. You can always try selling materials for crowns.
You know they're not that rare or useful ._.
Selling interesting ingredients is definitely a good way to make money, but on the other hand, you'll probably need those ingredients for what little crafting you can afford. Also, materials prices can vary VERY widely, and some materials (like dragon scales) are rarely worth the price you'd pay for them.
That said, being rich is also about how you spend your crowns. For example:
1. Plan to craft on days when you don't have time to play. (this means saving up crowns and materials to ensure that you have enough to cover crafting costs) That's 100 energy/day that you don't have to buy off the exchange.
2. There are literally hundreds of recipes in the game, but only a few of them really stand out. Look at the wiki ( http://wiki.spiralknights.com ) before buying, to ensure that your gear has good upgrade potential and better stats than the alternatives. For the info that isn't on the wiki yet, there are lots of experienced players who can offer advice or help finding that one perfect recipe.
3. Adventure with more experienced players when possible. They can help you to learn good strategies for adventuring, which means that you won't have to spend as much energy on revives in the future. (Lots of new players make the mistake of paying endlessly for revives- ask yourself if 40 energy/revive is worth the 4 adventures you give up. If you keep getting smashed down, it's usually cheaper to adventure from haven until you return to where you left off)
4. For a new player with basic equipment, PvP can be fun... but don't go in unless you're fully prepared to lose your entry fee. Losing gets expensive fast. :)
Easiest way to make money:
Congratulations, you have just learned the art of arbitrage!
Luckily, due to the lack of foresight on the developer's part, this is completely zero risk trading. If you end up in a stagnant market, you can just recall your assets and wait until the market settles, usually after an update or when a particular level spawns in a gate.
If nothing happens, you will still end up with exactly the same money or CE as when you started.
If you spent all your crowns on Energy, selling it for what you bought it for +4% will give you those crowns back. Vice Versa.
These trades are almost guaranteed to go through instantly at the right time of day.
Tip:
If someone does the old Price is Right (offering 1 crown less or more than you), reduce your profits and instead focus on controlling the market.
You might get money in slower, but controlling the flow of the market will cause them to withdraw offers more rapidly, allowing you to bring your price higher than it was before and make more profit than before.
