Interesting LD idea

With armor and HP trinkets you can take X amount of hits (say like 5).

With the same armor but no HP trinkets you can take Y amount of hits (usually it's 2).

Suppose the defense of the armor is changed so that you can weak armor without HP trinkets and take not Y amount of hits but X amount of hits, next remove trinkets from LD so that everyone can take X amount of hits.

The survivability of former HP trinketed players remains the same and the HP untrinketed players now don't die in 2 hits making this game much more enjoyable while not reducing players to squishy blobs of easily smashed goo.

Before this idea: HP Trinketed players take 5 hits
------------------- HP Untrinketed players take 2 hits

After this idea: All players are untrinketed
----------------- HP Untrinketed players take 5 hits

The only real complaint would be from those who use non-HP boosting trinkets (not that I have seen more than 1 in my entire time of playing).

Eh...

Removing trinkets from lockdown is a bad move, as it removes the need for a monthly "subscription" to Three Rings by means of energy. Hence, reducing revenue. They're a business, so we should let them keep making money.
Getting 800 energy a month isn't that hard, plus during the holiday months we can get a bunch of boxes to open and get more slots from, or buy cheaper from the auction house.

Making classes take or lose more from trinkets would be a better modification, such as strikers have -1/3 health from every health trinket but +1 from sword trinkets and -1 from bomb trinkets. Recons could have no health modifier, +1 gun and bomb trinkets and -1 sword trinkets. Guardians could have + 1/3 from health trinkets, -1 for gun trinkets, and +1 for bomb and sword trinkets.

Maybe we could take out the -1's for weapon trinkets, but it makes players further optimized for their class.

Overall the main problem in lockdown with trinkets are strikers with no health penalty. Making penalties apply across items would be a good fix.
Second biggest problem in lockdown is offensive bonus balancing, but health trinkets are the bigger issue.

Still think a few certain weapons will be popular

Toothpicks. And Acherons.
That is, unless you're saying to remove HP Trinkets and boost all of the armor's defense capabilities (Ie. Piercing resistance), as long as those two are around, I don't think removing HP Trinkets and having a base health around 5 hits will help.

'Less they either nerf the two or add extra life-changing elements to the defense of armor, I don't really want to budge...

Edit: [Misunderstood above]

Thing is...

Thing is the two other classes can still perform well with the correct gear, and get a reasonable trinket boost too. On the guardian shield, that's only -1 ASI for guns. With the idea I proposed a 5* trinket would still neutralize the ASI, but also means gun damage cannot be boosted as easily with trinkets as a guardian.
With ASI boosting gear, you can still get up to ASI: high with guns as a guardian. You can also have ASI on your guns as UVs. Dedicated guardian gunners can still do what they've been doing.

Same argument for sword recons. With vog cub full you still have a high ASI with swords.

This just also means that striker bombers cannot rely on trinkets for bomb boosting, or as much on health trinkets. Strikers are already powerful, and taking away a bit of that artificial power (through trinkets) would help make the game a bit more balanced.

...

This could still be made an option for LD players along with other options the players could vote prior to the match on each option whether it be to allow trinkets, AT, boosts on items, UVs, locked base, etc.

Public options get bad fast

Having each match have a vote for what will be involved will not turn out well. Some players will vote, others won't, and we'll have a big mess with everyone throwing insults around for "not turning off AT". Random teams should not be arranged like so.

Private or guild team matches could have something like custom lobbies with custom rules, but don't make it even an option for random lockdown.

Adjusting trinkets so that they affect everyone in some way makes everyone in every class get a buff/nerf. Trinkets alter lockdown heavily, so why not make them fall into the role that each class plays?

Who said it had to be public?

Who said it had to be public? There would be no names paired with votes (so no naming and shaming) and those who don't vote by the time the pregame timer goes off don't have any influence.

Just a total of up and down votes before the right before the match starts.

I figured it would be

Anonymous votes would work the best, but people would still be ticked off and scream at people who didn't vote/voted for Auto Target to be on. You need to split those people off from the players playing for fun.

Random lockdown is a bit more of a training ground, or a place to enhance your skills. We shouldn't encourage those with huge egos to crush newcomers. This would also make guild matches more common, as plenty of guilds have players who want no auto target on, and want to face off against other players with the same mindset. As of right now you need to plan for guild matches instead of just starting a guild team and playing competitively against other guilds.

Make private/guild games have something special that advanced players want, and they'll flock to that area. Take away those constraints for random games so that new players can learn to play without being affected by top tier players. If everyone voted for no auto target in your lobby and you've never played without auto target because of connection issues, then you wouldn't have much fun and probably wouldn't play lockdown as much.
