I've had a 3 year hiatus (stopped back in 2011) and got back to this recently. A lot has changed, and I understand these changes except for one thing I can't find any info on. This token that drops from treasure boxes that looks like the scarlet scouts insignia. What is it?

I was trained for this.

First of all, this is the Recon Ranger insigna. Scarlet Scouts have yet no tangible presence in the game and are to be treated as a subdivision of the Recon Rangers at the present.

Secondly, this is a pickup item. And your tooltip is full, you need to toss aside capsules or vials in order to collect it.

As for the item itself, it lets you call upon a Recon Ranger for support in battle, much like summoning a Mecha Knight from its kit.

When using a Recon ranger

When using a Recon ranger flare be sure to use in in the vicinity of multiple enemies. Before the ranger appears a recon mark will appear over some enemies, soon they are deathmarked and take much more damage.

The ranger brings an autogun and after the Deathmark wears off it serves little purpose more than a distraction

Using this in conjuction with power boosting sprite skills or Skills that debuff the enemy can produce incredibly damaging results.

This works exceptionally well in the Vanaduke battle. Where you can rack up to over 300 damage per bullet on an UNboosted Blitz charge (I don't know about the damage of BK or Chaos)

With a max dmg blitz + deathmark each charged needle can do way above 400 dmg to vana, I don't remember the exact nr, but Flow, Bopp or sy else will prolly provide that info. :D

Ultaflo: Luguiru is gone, but Fehzor and Hexzyle are still around. In fact, Hex is making a fan game!

You're not being mourned,

You're not being mourned, you're just a faint memory I had of the community 3 years ago.

In other words, one of the forum stars. One of the popular kids on the playground. And I was that loner kid who always stood in the corner. Staring at the popular kids with shady eyes.

That or probably I just remember the Gun puppy and Silkwing avatars.

Yeah, I'm still posting on here. I didn't reply sooner because this thread is kind of... over before it started.

A bit of a delayed response because I was booting from cold

Despite my chronic ego-centricism, I've never really felt like a star o.O nobody has asked me for autographs or anything like that
And I was that loner kid who always stood in the corner. Staring at the popular kids with shady eyes.

Anyway, it just occurred to me. I wasn't present on the forums in 2011, so how do you remember me? Have you been reading the forums these past three years or something?

I'm fairly sure you were there when I quit. I stopped playing end of 2011, still read a bit of the forums in 2012, but that's it. I remember your name. I remember your avatar. lel i rememburr ur fays.

And @Fehzor I know the initial subject of this thread is very much dead, but now it has been derailed to something else and, quite frankly I don't mind, because there isn't anything happening at all on the forums anymore. So I'm now celebrating my triumphant return to the Spiral Order (for now, mostly because now I can craft 5* items more easily then before, when I hit the paywall at 4*).

So what do you think about

So what do you think about the game anyway? After your 3 year hiatus. Especially now, after the gunner update.

Interesting question there, my good man.

Before, you needed to spend 10 energy to go down a level in the clockworks. You had a separate counter of "free" energy, and the paid one "Crystal Energy". For freebies, they had 100 free energy, and it slowly recharged in 24 hours or so. And energy was required to craft stuff aswell. So that means you could waste your whole tank of free energy by crafting a 5* weapon. You literally had to waste a day to craft a weapon. Not good.

Now, mucho good, because energy is no longer required for anything, except exclusively paid gear and accessories.

However there are 3 things I will point that are "bad decisions" for me.

1) Level up mechanic: It's a basic mechanic in nearly every single game ever made. Leveling up your gear is automatic, and happens when you gain enough experience for it. They changed in oreder to suck irl money from people of course, but there are other ways to do that instead of destroying a simple mechanic. On top of that your leveling up can actually fail. You have 6 rads to level up your DA but sadly you fall in the 20% chance that it fails, there goes your rads and time spent searching for them in the clockworks, which isn't easy when you haven't passed HoH 5* rank test and you're half clotted in level 1 4*/5* gear.

2) Dust bunnies/Scarabs: I'm not against having new enemies, but for God's sake, don't cram a thousand of them down my throat, especially in cramped places. The number of these are too damn high, they instore a particularly big difficulty spike, and worst of all they are situated in compound levels, giving you literally shit payouts for such an effort. Literally everyone I've run with said they hated these. Prime example for "artificial difficulty".

3) Arcade ain't what it used to be: One thing I loved before was that the arcade had changing gates every x amount of irl time, with different levels/themes every time. Now its just the same levels over and over again with "some" exceptions.

With all this though, I can still say that there are good things, like roaming the clockworks for free, battle sprites, the fact that it's easy to craft 5* gear and the good ol' AH. I just came back because I started having enough of military FPS'/blood/gore/serious games. I need SK's charm. Which fortunately, after 3 years, it still has.

(This will also sound contradictory but..I love guns (which is somewhat tied to military FPS and violence) but DAT GRIM REPEATER)

Interesting.

Yeah, for the most part compounds (and thus, mini-monsters) are pretty much a bomber's domain. With swords and guns they've traditionally been harder because you need to deal damage in an area rather than to one enemy.
Just wait until you have to deal with droves of gorgos.

Leveling up is something we've been discussing since the whole system changed last year. Originally, radiant fire crystals were accessable in mass starting at depth 24. Now, they're mixed with shining fire crystals from depths 25-28. People complained about shinings, and now people complain about radiants. The radiants rarity does make the game artificially longer if you want to heat your gear, but unlike old times, this "heat slow down" system doesn't have a bypass like the old elevator passes provided. We just need one of those and the game will be like old times, only better!

And the arcade is still pretty much the same. Removing the gate deposits made it completely random (and we had a couple days where slooms reemerged !) but they did fix the gate map lying about items and then skipping over levels. We had a d28 arena for a while and plenty of people waited for hours for the gate to change to the arena, but it always skipped it. Now, what you see is what you get.

Hopefully this helps a bit. Being gone for several years will make the more "common" knowledge (i.e., how to deal with minis. Believe me, everyone went through what you feel when they were introduced) of today more alien.

Thanks for clearing some

Thanks for clearing some things up, though for the arcade I feel like I've been running the same levels over and over again since last week.

And yes I hate the Gorgos already, I'm not sure they were there in 2011 but, yes they're annoying.
