Should I?

For a while now I have been farming Shining Crystals (by a while I mean farming my life away) and I finally got my Master Blast Bomb to level 10, the first weapon for so far that I was going to take and did take to 5 Stars. But when I upgraded it to Nitronome I found something out, the damage reduced by about 40~ after the upgrade, the bigger radius is indeed helpful but I can't justify the damage reduction when the Level 10 Master Blast Bomb I had, had a Med CTR along with 40 more damage. I have no Radiant Crystals to rank the Nitronome so I can't bring it to be better than the maxed Master Blast Bomb, so is it even worth going 5 Star if you can't level them after? Because at this point it seems like more of a downgrade than a upgrade.

Oh, and does anyone know of a info resource that gives a list of bomb charge times along with how it changes with each UV? Low, Med, High CTR etc... since I'm pretty much pure bomber at this point, and I really found the Bomber Guide and the Bomb Damage tables on the wiki helpful, I can't seem to find any CTR tables, which I find odd because I feel it'd be something people probably looked into at one point.

PS I'm assuming this would go in Arsenal because it's talking about weapons, but I'm not sure. Sorry if it's in the wrong section.

:/

Well at this point, SK's monetization is completely broke and they made leveling 5* a massive pain in the butt, you will have to farm the arcade a few times, go to an arena or two at depth 26~28. After farming them a dozen times you should get enough rads to heat your nitro to CTR low, not as good as CTR med but hey, it is better than nothing.

But I want to farm vana D:

You are just asking to get kicked to use something like that, maybe get a shivermist bust and a 4* DBB, the shivermist is your ticket to the final boss. You only need the radius on the mist bomb anyway so the CTR doesn't matter.

I'm vohtarak, call me by that name

5* items reach their level 10 4* versions usually around level 7 or 8

this is common knowledge and there have been many more ignorant threads about this

btw yes I read the whole thing, I just didn't feel like giving advice

Sorry for being ignorant?

Vohtarak, I'm sorry if I sounded ignorant but I also wish you read through what I wrote, my main question was is it worth it to go to 5 star if I do not, note the do not, have the Radiant Crystals to level it so that it is better than the 4* Lvl 10 it was before, and honestly if they are only better than the level 4 at max at around 7 or 8 (I was thinking it would be around level 5) than I honestly don't even want to bring most of my weapons to 5 star right now until I have the Radiants.

Midnight I do actually have DBB, well Spike Barage, Freezing Atomizer, and Plasma Capacitor. The main reason I made this thread is because the Nitronome was the first 5 star weapon that I have made, I had made the 5 star armors because they were obvious boosts to there 4 star variants but for 5 stars it doesn't seem like the boosts actually show till there almost level 10 which I find really weird because usually the next tier is better right away even if just a little, not worse than gets better.

And I have no interest in farming Vanaduke ever, the one FSC run that I soloed to finish the story is honestly the only one I have plans on doing because it was the most mindless, boring thing I have ever done in this game. The whole boss fight was like 15 minutes of me freezing him with Freezing Atomizer and than getting in a charge shot with my Strike Needle and rinsing and repeating, just boring.

right

Right. Don't upgrade your weapons to 5 stars until you have the Radiants to heat them to heat level 8, or at least 5. Some weapons buck this trend, because the upgrade is powerful in other ways (more charge projectiles, etc.). But it's still a good rule of thumb.

Also, don't use Radiants on armor if you need them for weapons. Heat weapons first. The reason is that heat has a strong effect on weapon CTR and damage (as you've seen), but only a small effect on armor damage defense, and no effect on armor status defense.

I'm glad that you've read the Bombing Guide to see charge times. Now you want to know the effects of CTR? This is explained at the wiki page Abilities. The section on CTR links to some detailed studies. They don't include bombs, but bombs are consistent with the other weapons, in my experience.

Most bombs benefit greatly

Most bombs benefit greatly from a larger radius as they can hit more enemies with the blast, this is a bomb's purpose after all to hit as many as possible. The drop in power becomes a burden when dealing with enemies 1v1, the drop in CTR also becomes a burden but Max CTR isn't necessary.

When bombing you aim for control, to do this you need to correctly time and place your bomb's CTR only makes it easier to have your bomb ready faster. Straight up spamming a Max CTR blast bomb will get you kicked from a party unless that is the plan.

Example: they let you walk into a room to aggro all the minis and decimate them

When using a blast bomb for utility you want to push all the enemies into a corner, against a wall, or clump them together. A larger blast radius makes it easier to control larger amounts of enemies but you can still do it with lower star blasts bombs, it just requires you to be a bit more active.
