Gunner Update Patch stops Steam users from starting SK [Resolved]

Ok.
So I tried just giving up and going on my alt to get some recipes...
The client repatched steam's patch.
I decided... hrm. Try steam again? Sure why not.
It patched the repatch. Wut.
Then it worked.
Anyone else stuck in limbo can try deleting one file [like getdown.txt] to force a patch and that might work?
Its likely steam that isnt pushing the new update because it recently updated.
now it says" either there is a network outage or the server is not yet fully operational

I will likely kick in my own helm if this works but I am flat out reinstalling the game patches and all and see if it works.
Edit: Typical it didn't work...
EDIT: when i turn off my security system it works

i validate, 8 files get reacquired, I try to launch, nothing happens, repeat
The vicious cycle of spiral knights gunner update...
EDIT: So it winds up being uninstalling from steam + deleting all local files in the steam folder = progress, long download time, and a working game.
gg java, you beat me again
welp, everyone get something to eat and drink, and watch as OOO does their magic and tries to fix this horrifying event! My reactions of happiness to horror in only a few characters! :D :I :( ); DX
Even though i cant play. So, there may be another issue coming. GG OOO GG
Went into my steamlibrary->Steamapps->common on my C: drive and completely deleted the spiral knights folder and did a fresh re install. I'm able to get into the game now. Dont know if it'll help any of you out but it worked for me.
I highly also believe it's the 2 Xmx files, because the end is right before that. Also, im on Windows XP and its not working.

Copied Jimbo's method, and managed to get my client running. It would seem when repairing and updating through steam that some fragments are getting left behind, just continuing the issue. A clean install is the best bet right now it would seem.
edit: Just my luck. The steam servers start derping right as I attempt to log on. Bah....
Okay guys just a quick way i got it too work all credit to Jimbosliced. Go to your C: Drive > Steam > common > Right click on SK and delete the file. Then start up Steam go to your library and again right click SK and choose to delete all Local Content. Re-Install and it worked.

Ok... Yes I am talking to Three Ring on this but on my reinstall the launcher actualy hangs for dang near eternity.

It looks like most cases of folks having trouble is the game is not properly pulling the update when launched, so the game never updates to fix the first Steam problem. For those still getting errors when launching from Steam please try the following:
1) Make sure there are no instances of java.exe or javaw.exe still running. The easiest way to do this is to restart your computer.
2) Go to http://gamemedia.spiralknights.com/spiral/client/getdown.txt and open the text file.
3) Look for the phrase "General information version"
4) After this phrase there should be the number "20141203124508"
If you are seeing a different value please let us know. If you see the correct value please try launching the game from Steam and allow it to run through its patching process.

I checked that file.. I have the same number BUT I don't happen to get the full launch when I try to fresh install and I am pulling what Jimbo said..
it will reach 99% then just hangs forever

Is it the patching screen that hangs at 99%? If this is the case can you please post a copy of your launcher log file? This file can normally be found at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Spiral Knights on your computer.

I am trying another fresh install like said in the emails to me, I will inform you from there if this happens again

I sent the log file directly via my email. it did the log again seems its java isn't the same as the oracle one I use. Java 7

Jumbosliced fix was the best solution, however i didnt deleted entirely spiral knights, i sent the spiral knights folder found in common from steamapps to the bin recycle, then delete all local content from steam, and then i restored the folder i "deleted" from common folder of my steam, and there, the game is running again.

Cannot get on at all.
Tried everything here, rebooted, cleared the local content out, nothing.
Launcher log. Just in case.

Quit SK and Steam, Erase SK folder in "steam app/common"
Launch steam at Game list clic erase local content, then download the game again.
Works for me and other players.

"Quit SK and Steam, Erase SK folder in "steam app/common"

I have done this 5 times and yet Spiral Knights refuses to open.

So, I've uninstalled and reinstalled Spiral Knights, Steam, and Java.
The best I get is an update screen that hangs at 99%
Game officially hates me.

It appears that your Windows user account does not have permission to launch the game, so the updater hangs when it should be launching the game. The easiest way around this is to launch Steam as an Administrator.
1) Exit Steam completely.
2) Right Click the link you use to launch Steam and select "Run as Administrator"
3) Once Steam has started try launching Spiral Knights normally.
The most common cause for this issue is the game was installed as an Administrator, or a security program on your computer has flagged the game as false positive and has made it so that standard users cannot run it.

for me when i press the "play" button on steam it doesn't say "preparing to launch spiral knights," instead after a while the screen goes black and then back to normal. I've reinstalled the game 3 times and nothing works.
plz give me some information on wats going on thnk you.
Not working for me aswell, tried reinstalling 5 times, updating java, running steam as administrator .... Meh, maybe it'll start working the next patch.
it was doing that prior to the patch for me.. so it didn't even work in this case.. and this actually is aggitating to one like me who moved from the web client to the steam one..
