Apparently, the java application that runs Spiral Knights doesn't fit the High/Very High security requirements.
I tried putting it on the Exception site list, but the game was still prevented from running

I'll respond but...
I went through the instructions java gave and ended up with the same thing as before. No error or allowance message; just a phantom window which launched saying I was in the game when I obviously wasn't.

Spiral Knights should meet the "high" security requirements for the current versions of Java distributed from java.com. However, if you are not using a default install of Java this may change. Could you please post which version of Java is currently installed on your computer for running Spiral Knights?

By latest version you mean Java 8 update 25 correct?
If you aren't certain you can check by opening the Control Panel, select Uninstall a Program, and scroll the list until Java is listed. If you have older versions you may need to uninstall them before the newest one works properly.

Java 7 does not let it work...huh.
From what it looks like, the problem is inside third-party hosting sites. I recently tried both Kongregate AND Aeriagames, and though I placed the getdown URL as an exception, the Java says that a "Permissions" manifest attribute does not exist in the main jar. The main client on the actual spiralknights.com site works fine if placed as an exception. Maybe a Permissions manifest exists there, but not in the other third-party sites? :P
I'll try to switch over to Java 8, though I don't know why it didn't automatically in the first place. If this is the case of why a lot of players cannot access SK, an advisory note on the Patch Notes about switching to Java 8 would be highly recommended, since I have recently learned that the automatic 7-8 conversion is to take place in 2015, meaning that players will have to switch to Java 8 by going on the site and installing the latest update.
And because I don't know if this helps or not...

Um...
I think it might be with the lack of a Permissions manifest. Are you running SK on a third-party host (Kongregate, Aeriagames, etc.)?

I'm not seeing this error on sites like Kongregate either. The game was updated to be complaint with Java's newer settings a while back. It's possible that one of the "getdown" files cached on your computer isn't updating properly.
Please try deleting the "getdown-pro" file from your Spiral Knights files. The next time the game launches it will automatically download a new copy. The easiest way to get to these files if you play from a web browser is to do the following:
1) Open a new file browser window.
2) Type %appdata%\..\LocalLow\spiral in the address bar and press Enter.
3) You should now be in the location of all your Spiral Knights files.

I think you may be right about the problem being third-party hosting sites. While the spiralknights.com host had the same problem, I downloaded the game and I'm able to access my alt. The problem is, my main is on a "third-party hosting site" (armorgames)

Just checked the Dusername=swiftstryker part. That's the username I use for the Spiral Knights client on this site.
That, and that (deleting getdown-pro and trying the main site) removed security issues only on this site. Why is the log showing stuff from the spiralknights.com client on Kongregate? O.o
If all else fails, should I just wipe the slate clean and delete all things Spiral Knights, and then re-install? Maybe the placement of files into another folder other than Local might've screwed up something.

I put http://gamemedia.spiralknights.com/spiral/client/getdown-pro.jar on the Exception Site List, which is in the Security tab when you access Java from your control panel. All hosting sites started working.

I've already done that before, though the results of being unable to play is the same for me. I might really need to re-install...but I'll try once more.

The developers have published a fix for the launcher problem and should be making its way to be automatically distributed to anyone launching the game now. However, you may need to delete the files Spiral Knights caches on your computer before you can launch the game properly. If you wish do do this you don't need to worry about your knight progress, all your progression is safely stored on our servers.
1) Press the Windows Key + R hotkey to open Run
2) Type "%appdata%/../LocalLow/spiral" and press Enter
3) Deleting all the files here will uninstall the game.
At this point trying to launch the game from Kongregate (or Armor Games) will download all new files to use, including the fix.

More and more problems...
Before update i use different version of java into the SK folder. I follow this tutorial to install 64bit version :

But with this update and this java version, the game launch but cannot connect me "unable to connect"
I try with original version of java, it works but the game is laggy (frame loosing and saccade moving).

Or it's just something with the binary.

Not working on my Mac
I haven't been able to log in on my Kongregate account since the gunner update came out. At first it was because of the security thing with Java blocking the game so I left it to see if the devs would fix it themselves. I came back yesterday and that problem seemed to be fixed. But in place of it, every time the game tried to update it kept showing an error message saying something along the lines of
0% complete
m.create_getdown_failed
I think i was running on Java 7 (never really checked, but I haven't updated it in months so it must have still been 7) so I downloaded the latest Java 8 version from their website, but that didn't change anything.
I tried deleting all of my SK files on my computer so I could reinstall it, but then the error message changed to
0% complete
m.create_appdir_failed
Not sure what to do at this point since there isn't anything to uninstall...
By the way, the game runs fine on steam, even back when everyone was saying they couldn't log in on steam. It still does now. But my main is on Kong, so yeah...

This is normally a file system permission error. The game is unable to save the files it normally would to your computer. You can try kickstarting the web version of the game by using your Steam version.
1) Go to your Steam Spiral Knights directory (default C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Spiral Knights)
2) Copy every file and folder except for the "java_vm" folder
3) Navigate to the web install folder by going to %appdata%/../LocalLow/spiral in your file browser
4) Paste everything from Step 2
5) Try launching Spiral Knights from Kongregate like you normally would.

Still not working
I copied my steam files into the application support folder where my web client stuff was, but it didn't seem to fix the problem. And I didn't see any folder called "java_vm" either. I neglected to mention before that I'm running on a Macbook Pro with OS X Yosemite v10.10. That might be why your instructions didn't work for me.

STILL still not working
As I said before, moving my steam files for SK didn't fix anything. And now, for some reason my steam version doesn't want to work anymore either. When I try to launch the game from steam, it gives an error message saying
0% complete
The configuration file is missing the 'appbase'.
I went to look at the steam files, and as far as I can tell the only difference is that the "getdown.txt" file seems to be missing, even though I never touched it (except to copy all the files over for the web client, but last I checked copying a file doesn't erase it). There could be something else missing, but I don't remember every file that was in the folder.
Would really appreciate it if someone would explain to me why this game hates me right now.

Sorry about that. I normally assume Windows first. The structure of an OS X Steam Install and Windows Steam install is quite a bit different.
Spiral Knights usually does not work with Java 7 on Macs. Thankfully Apple still maintains its Java 6 package available from their support site.

As for your Steam version, you will need to obtain a new getdown.txt file. The game will not be able to launch without it being present. thankfully this is a bit easier to replace. Just save the contents of the below link as "getdown.txt" in your Steam Spiral Knights directory.

Although it's really laggy, my steam version is working now. Thanks for that. However, downloading java from Apple didn't seem to do anything at all for my web client. And I was playing SK with Java 7 just fine before the gunner update, so I don't even think it is a problem with my Java. So at this point I'm back to square one without any progress...
I have a windows partition on this computer, and I went over to it to try and see if it would work with SK, but it had the exact same problem so it can't be a problem with my OS X operating system. It's either the game file itself or an over-arching problem with my computer. If it is a problem with my computer, I'd have no idea how to fix it, so I'm really hoping it's not that.

Partially works
Ok, so I got the game to download finally. On the main site, on the page to download the game I had to manually download it by clicking the link at the bottom then move the file to my application folder. This lets me open up the client so I can log in from within the game and use my main site account, so that's a plus. But trying to open the game from the website itself still presents the same problem. Because of this, I can't play on my Kongregate account since you have to launch the game from their website to log in with their account. I know there is a way to alter the game files to allow you to log in to Kong from the application on your desktop since that's how I had it set up before I deleted it, I just don't remember how to do it so I'll have to go do a few google searches to remember again. Once I do that I'll finally have my problem fixed, which shouldn't take longer than a day or so hopefully.

Heads-up, Knights...
If you're having a problem trying to get into the game and/or install, here's the solution.
Due to the game being moved to Grey Havens, past certifications by Three Rings have been expired overtime, and the previous installer shortcut & it's workings no longer works. To get back in the game, just delete the game and the data, but don't worry. All of our knights have been saved on their servers, so we don't have to start all over again.
Like Helios said before, type the Run data information above on any Windows OS computer, and delete the files that came with the old OOO certifications.
All you have to do to fix it is to click on the new revamped installer shortcut that came with new certifications & such, which won't co-exist with the old one(Guess that explains things. Whew!), likely that OOO's previous certifications on it & such have been expired, and it will reinstall the game again, only, this time, new certifications by Grey Havens shall come with all the data.
Does this help you with your new problems, Knights? It should. I just fixed mine.

Thanks for the help, but I fixed my problems. I only had problems with the game's shortcut, straight from the game's website. Turns out, it was quite outdated since the game got moved from OOO to GH. Had to delete everything and install the new shortcut, but that worked to me.
