They release gunner update, but make it so that everything is in basil (polaris and antigua i get, but everything else?) and requires excessive grinding. Brings me back to when they released the loot rework but made radiants as rare as diamonds.
But i can't help but admire how brutally efficient it is, release update many players have wanted for so long but with a caveat of playing hours on end, AND at the same time getting players to play the rarely played arcade. Also, it seems to have appeased the playerbase into forgetting about the arcade redux and numerous other promised patches for the time being.

Edit: Please keep discussion about the new update in the discussion thread here. Thanks!

but make it so that everything is in basil

How is this a bad thing? Hall of Heroes has been a cancer in the side of Arcade exploration ever since the mission update.

Hex is so true.
Might as well remove HoH recipes altogether!

Problem is that Basil encourages arcade runs, but not in a fun way. What if you could find recipes strewn about the 'Works in specific levels, not just randomly at the same specific depths?

That'd give you incentive to play every level, not just play whatever gets you to Basil fastest.

Straight-Line

You put so much effort into waiting for the update right? So what's wrong about putting effort into the actual game?

I actually thought making ALL of the weapons basil only was a really nice touch-- it brings people back into the arcade, and shifts players away from the attitude of "beat missions, ignore arcade".

The armor I think they have backwards. This new gunner stuff is kind of... it feels like the stock armor for gunners. I kind of think they should have made nameless, shadowsun... all of the cowboy stuff really, the basil armors instead.

Arcade Redux

Haven't forgotten about the Redux. In fact I'm more looking forward to it than the guns, but the guns will be sufficient for now. But getting players to run arcade isn't such a bad things. Gets players back to play and keep playing till they get their sweet sweet recipes. Plus, you get to watch your crown count slowly rise up :D

It brings back Recipe Trading properly: since HoH, boss recipes were horribly expensive since few people ran arcade. This was especially true with 3* Snarbolax recipes, which often went for over 10k.

This update has introduced three changes:

1. The number of recipes in general has increased. This makes it much more difficult for a single person on one or more runs to find exactly the recipe they need, encorouging player to player trading for recipes.

2. The number of Basil-exclusive recipes has increased, giving recipe traders a broader spectrum on things to sell. This brings more dynamics to recipe trading (I don't know about other people, but I enjoy having a wider market adding complexity to figuring out what sells and what doesn't. Previously it was just "buy Twisted Thorn Blade Recipe to win game")

3. The ratio of Basil-exclusives to nonexclusive items has increased, meaning FAR less pointless Basil runs. It should no longer be a case of "(sigh) no boss recipes this run, time to start again".

I just wanted to add that although this does encorouge running to Basil and no further, one also has to remember that the second half of a tier is far more profitable than the first.

Oh give me a break.

Shut the hell up plasm, you all complained about not getting an update and they finally supply you with the gunner update or a large portion of it so just shut up and sit down, you got an update, don't be that person that constantly gripes just because they don't get everything that they want, you got an update, stop whining and play it, and so what if you don't have EVERYTHING at least they updated thee game which no one thought would happen, i swear you people CONSTANTLY gripe at OOO and for examples here are a few : "OOOnever releases anything they should really release something" "omg they finally released the gunner update but everyone's forgotten about the redux for arcade" just stop complaining, you got your long awaited update and patch work so enjoy it

0/10 try harder

I have never had any problem with having to wait for the content, and unlike you i have standards for the games i play.
So disregarding the fact that most of your argument is based on "oh they released the update you wanted so bad" and looking at it objectively, all of my points still stand. Whether or not i was looking forward to the content does not make it immune to critiques
@fehzor i see what your getting at, but I would rather it be "lets make the arcade a place that knights will want to go to" rather than "oh lets make going to the arcade a necessity for certain gear"
