So everybody knows that this game lags like no other. The lag usually manifests itself in a few ways:

1) Everything walks off the screen
2) You can hit and take hits, but no bars of damage appear
3) You try to attack, but the game skips and doesn't register the button press

What could be the causes of this? If anyone has any ideas post! I have some ideas, but cant be sure. Here are my ideas anyways:

1) Poorly configured server connection
2) Old servers
3) Overloaded servers

I don't know enough about computers to diagnose the problem, but maybe someone else knows.

Also, I am not sure if this happens to anyone else, but sometimes when the game lags, it actually affects my own connection, and disconnects my own wi-fi (The bars go from solid to searching mode). I don't know why the heck this happens, but its pretty stupid. Anyways, share your lag stories!

Welcome to the world of online gaming, where everything is going to have some form of delay based upon: how busy the server is, how poor a platform java is, your upload speed, your download speed, your distance from the server, your computer's hardware capabilities, your system's drivers.

You're all wrong.

Someone obviously keeps spilling soda on the servers. Why do you think Nick left?

Reason 4: your connection sucks
These things aren't issues for a lot of players. What you speak of primarily seems to be about connection instability, whcih is no surprise considering that you play on wifi. Don't play games on wifi, that just doesn't work.

Also, I am not sure if this happens to anyone else, but sometimes when the game lags, it actually affects my own connection, and disconnects my own wi-fi (The bars go from solid to searching mode).
It's the other way around. Your game lags because your wifi is poor.

Wow, lagged while opening

Wow, lagged while opening this page...

@Whim I've played many other online multiplayer games, only this one disconnects randomly, has those "lag every 2 minute" moments, and disconnects you out of the server. Its like other games have a plethora of capabilities to handle each player, while this one tries to keep each player connected with a shoestring.

@Sloveniangirl Might be bad

@Sloveniangirl

Might be bad IC, but many other people complain about lag spikes, which suggest the servers are the issue.

I had this issue and it was

I had this issue and it was definitely my internet connection. When nobody in my house is online but me, it's great. No lag and no NPC's walking off the screen (that got me the first time round, I thought I'd unlocked some special move!). But then when you get to my age everything annoys you. Three Rings, The Internet.. The world is going down the sink!

and...

Who's Nick ?

There are lag spikes on the servers.

I've noticed them significantly during the events when a large quantity of RNG calls are being made [opening the massive quantity of grinch treasure boxes at the end of GA in a 4-person party]. This causes heavy server load and will flash all players on that instance to a red connection bar, then back to what they were.

There are also lag spikes that are ISP related [Read: NOT OOO].

These involve players becoming "unresponsive", then rubber-banding all over the place. Players that experience this should ensure they have enough bandwidth consistently while playing.

Finally, there is just bad latency.

This involves general delayed communication with servers at all times, such as not being able to use sprite abilities. There is no solution to this besides "figure out where OOO has their servers and move closer to them", which is an unreasonable request simply to play a game [sorry East Asia gamers... there still isn't a server for over there].
