Just sitting in Haven, I've been noticing there is a huge increase in the amount of people using the basis of being hacked in order to beg for crowns.
Of course, I've been redirecting them to: https://www.spiralknights.com/support/#mail however the fact that the same people still continue to beg with this scheme and not seek help from game moderators makes me lose faith in humanity.

Just wondering, does this violate any rules and is there any sort of way to counter this form of begging when they continue to do so?

If they're wearing gear appropriate to their rank you can call them out on their crap
If they're wearing proto or something tell them to go to the "help I got hacked" thing at tue bottom of the official site
If they continue to beg to instead of going to the thing they're probably lying and you can call them out on it

That's how to counter it,but I'm not sure about if it breaks any rules

inspect them and go to achievements tab, if their character doesn't have at least "go deep (tier 3)", then they may have created a smurf.

Honestly

If they are hacked, then its actually their fault for giving away username or password and what not, but if the hacker used an advanced, futuristic program to run every sk account on a database go in someones account who has never seen the guy, has played by all the rules and everything guaranteeing no possible chance of getting hackec, then I might help them a bit.

But thats most likely never going to happen because if you have the ability to hack like that, why steal when you can just generate your own stuff. :/

On the other end, they could be 5 star but could have wasted all their cr on accessories, they are expensive after all.

I just tell them that I'll give them 10 crowns for every lap they do around the fountain. If they are that desperate for money, at least I get a show out of it.

If they have the ability to hack like that, why generate your own stuff when OOO and Sega would be more interesting and challenging targets?

Or you could just give them one of the ten thousand Stun Guns you have lying around in your backpack (Come on guys, Super Stun Guns shoot STARS) :P Everyone deserves Stun Guns, and they can sell them for crowns!

If anyone had this sort of software, they wouldn't be doing something as lame as hacking an obscure MMO's user database for items of no monetary value.

The majority of (if not all) hacks occur because people trust others with their passwords, or they fall victim to the "free stuff if you enter in your username and password" scams.

So whenever you see someone claim that they were hacked, unless it was on a high-priority, high-traffic database like WoW or Steam that have thousands of people searching for security holes every day, you can pretty much correct them by saying "No, you didn't get hacked, you were irresponsible with the security of your account"

Happy New Year!

I NEVER had any concerns with the security of my account here on SK. I have never had any concerns with purchases made here on SK nor have ever had any problems. I have never been hacked here or on any other game site. I don't know anyone who truly has been here or elsewhere on game sites. I never had to change my bank account or credit card numbers after purchases made on games sites. Not only have I never had any problems with security, I also never had any problems or delays in recovering accounts on paid games. I think they are better at securing their site than say places like: Macy's, JCPenney's, Target, Acme, Sony/PS, the Obamacare website...
