I'm currently working on a v1.3 release of TradeTrax. For those who haven't tried it yet: It is a tool for keeping track of:

  • What your knight is worth
  • What your Guildhall is worth
  • What you buy and sell on the auction house/energy market.

The next version already has quite a number of subtle new features, but I don't think its release worthy, yet.

So, what do you guys think, I should add?

It's hard to make things like new ledgers without wasting some time on reading how to do it and doing it itself. This would be nice to do with single click on "Add new ledger" button. Also this comes with ledger selection.
Some things like editing entries are hard to spot.

Meep.

Trying it out on my  and it functions well on Safari using the local host, once I've got my wi-fi properly stable.

Going to the program was quite easy with just a click on the .jar file from the home screen and I can simply put in desired amounts.
The terms and actual page layout is quite neat and organised; along with the filter system, will be handy for finding out important transactions in a certain category.

Overall, I'd say it's a 3.9/5 from me at a first glance.

However I would like certain features to be implemented such as being able to make graphs (line graphs with a variable of time, and/or frequency table with the ledger to visually understand the profit / turnover in a certain period. Analysing data within this ledger would be able to as well, help with temporal problems, with a purpose to see how a business / person can improve financially depending on the situation they're in. Will probably be using this application in order to see my profit from trading as well as trying to fix the local host stability if possible as several pages couldn't be accessed.

@Mtax-Forum Any idea on how

@Mtax-Forum

  • Any idea on how to make asset editing more obvious/prominent?
  • What should the UI for creating/switching ledgers look like? For technical reasons, it cannot be part of the web interface (the webserver cannot dynamically load ledgers).

@Meep-the-bank
Could you add a bit more detail? Ideal would be:

  • Your use case scenario (What exactly you need to know for which reason).
  • A specification of the graph (what to display, how/what from to calculate the lines)
  • Where you would like it linked in the UI.

Currently, the links in the summary page cause filters to be set on the TradeCenter. I wouldn't be too unhappy to replace that behavior with linking to an analysis page for the asset type instead.

@Spiral-Spy

For UI small edit link would be neat: For me instead of clicking into ID, under it would be "Edit" wroten in small font - More easy to see exactly when one needs it.
Perhaps search option by name under "Find assest by id" for names; Yeah, I know it's possible, but this would be easier to see and use as well, but that's not extremally necessary.

As for ledger switch: Hm, before page in browser is opened, TradeTrax opens as small window that is accessible anytime. Maybe you could use this for selection and creation/deleting? Perhaps then not automatical open in browser, but using this window for choosing.

@Krakob
I had a bunch of them ordered, but then some idiot gave them lazers, causing mass extinction.

@Aviri
Can it be "Approved by your local Pit Boss" instead?

I don't quite know where to put the "edit" link. I can't replace the id number with it (you need that piece of information). Everywhere would look either redudant, cluttered or reduce the horizontal space of the other columns.

I think, since v1.2 you can also enter a name in the sidebar search box. Anything non numerical gets forwarded to the filter form.

The system window serves two purposes: provide the novice user with the URL of the ledger and the means for easily shutting the application down. Personally, I find it rather annoying and therefore use -Dskipwindow, so clicking the icon in the taskbar directly brings up the browser. I guess that's the behavior everyone wants in the long run. So every ledger switching method should work in a way that permits window skipping.

Current state of affairs. I got slightly frustrated after rediscovering the original dilemma: depending on the presence of projectx-pcode.jar
