How is it there are still people who think defense matters in Lockdown?

The problem with Proto is that it hardly gives health. Proto with pentas is like having a 5* set with no defence, resistance, or bonuses.

Babyeightyone,
Founder and Guild master of BRMC, formerly GM of Intense Flame, stopped playing quite a while ago, can't remember when, probably late-ish 2013. He still comes back to play sometimes, maybe once every other month. His computer was realllly bad so he couldn't play much lockdown when he was active ( even some PvE levels were too much ), so he never really had a chance to learn lockdown-specific playstyles - which explains the combo'ing and stuff ( I'm sure we all did it at some point when we started playing lockdown ).
Last time I saw him - Couple days ago actually.

With the expertise, knowledge, time spent, and to an extent, computer power that we all have, of course a video like the one in OP's post doesn't seem all too impressive. But really, looking at that time stamp, it does bring me back to a simpler, albeit loads more cringe-worthy, time...

Yeah, but nobody makes videos of themselves wearing full Chromalisk and no trinkets. They always choose proto with trinkets to make it look like they are weaker.
BTW, Proto gives -10. Full Pentas gives you +12. Just saying.
Also, Max/VH damage Final Flourish does ~50% on a 5 star with no defense, so that extra 80 hp could mean the difference between 2HKO and 3HKO.
