First of all I'd like to say I've played SK since steam day release, I've seen real good players come and go and players die out all together, Ive read controversial posts from SK staff regarding certain releases which did not come to fruition.

Day in and day out I find it harder and harder to run certain zones the drive to play this game is burning out, Player base has dropped substantially since the beginning. Hell i've even disappeared for months only to come back to the same playable content from the beginning. I Humbly DEMAND not suggest give a reason for a vangaurd like myself to grind the end game zones. Give us a costume or end game loot to work towards. 30 almirian tokens to get an ancient plate isn't enough.

Give us a reason to go into FSC, Jelly King, Roar... whatever to farm a rediculous number of tokens to get a costume, an aura anything to stand out and make someone say "holy $$$# that guys got that?". It can be Bound to account I dont care!

GIVE ME A REASON TO GRIND, GIVE OTHERS A REASON TO GRIND. GIVE US SOMETIHNG TO WORK TOWARDS IF YOU DONT PLAN ON RELEASING NEW PLAYABLE CONTENT.

What about radiant fire crystals? Aren't those the reason to play endgame content? Working towards new gear...

Just because you don't have a reason to grind doesn't mean there aren't reasons to grind.

I think you may be overlooking a few things. Unless you have EVERY weapon and armor in the game, there are still reasons to keep going. If you think that's too grand, then how about the Shadow Lair sets?

As for your point about tokens, have you heard of this thing called a Hunter's Lodge? You want something to grind tokens for? How about 1152 Bark Modules for a Roarmulus Statue greeting every single person who walks into your guildhall?

I agree this game got very

I agree this game got very boring, add something for the PVE players to work towards. Farming the same FSC/Jelly king or just even doing clockworks for 3 years get's pretty boring. If you add something to work towards that will take a long time to achieve, people will play to get it just to say they have it. Even Lockdown is getting very boring, add some new maps (no ice or fire ones...) that won't lag so bad and take these laggy maps out of LD already, everyone already complains about fire/ice maps so why don't you just just remove them.

"What about radiant fire

"What about radiant fire crystals? Aren't those the reason to play endgame content? Working towards new gear..."

Not when you went from being able to level a piece of 5* gear a 2-3 levels per Vana run to getting enough crystals to level it 1/4th-1/10th of the way for the upper levels. You can run run Vana 10 times and not get enough crystals to upgrade your 5* item from level 9 to level 10. Hell, I ran a D28 arena 4 times and got enough crystals to level up my Winter's Grave one time... from level 5 to 6. We're talking 100% chance up level increase of course, as anything else is a waste of resources.

Makes me so glad almost all of my gear was leveled before the change.

Yeah the game definitely

Yeah the game definitely needs some "end-game" content to keep the old players busy. I would definitely come back to the game if there was more of such content, and like me, other people I know probably would as well.

@Gwenyvier

Yeah, I think that's definitely the heart of the issue when it comes to the "reward" (and the radiant fire crystals are still the reward in question regardless of how many you get). In this case, players want more reward per time spent at the endgame without having to pay or use energy (which is also what the OP is saying), and the developers haven't acknowledged their point of view.

Getting all the weapons is

Getting all the weapons is great. I had them all with boss variants, and then I realized that was pointless, simply because I couldn't heat any of them.
I don't reckon I've heated more than 3 5* since the new radiants drop.
I know the forge doesn't sound like such a good idea and all, but it was pretty much fine when it first came, never felt like my efforts were wasted and I'd even get rewarded with special boxes every now and then from forging. That was just fine, and it'd be great if we could just get back to that and reduce the 5* orbs drop instead. I mean you'll clearly get enough eternal orbs to craft 2-3 weapons while farming your radiants to heat that one piece of armor. That's kinda odd, sounds like it should be the other way around.

i can safely say that i go out of my way to avoid making new gear until i know i have the resources to get it done in an afternoon, which requires a lot of preliminary farming and grinding, and i'm completely okay with that aspect of it

however, making it so i have to grind arguably 20+ hours in arenas, FSC, and/or shadow lairs in order to fully level something without the use of anything in the depot (boosters, radiants, etc.) is frankly more trouble than it's worth. even then, the gear selection that's currently available in the game has been pretty much dominated by overhyped "gunner armor" that does so little in the broader scope of things that there's really only one armor that is functional enough to consider over something else - and even then it's consideration is solely for PvP, and not PvE. every other armor is outclassed by a precursor armor line. all this does is tell me that even if we were to get genuinely new content and armors, it won't be playtested with the intent of "keeping everything balanced" in mind. instead, we'll get something that either: falls short of the mark, or goes so far beyond it that it serves as a quintessential pay-to-obtain armor, such as the black kat raiment (and really all of the kat armor lines, since they all required whiskers to craft to my recollection).

i get the concept that a free-to-play game should have something to prevent players from reaching endgame in an afternoon, and to that end having something to grind is not only expected, but required in order to keep the game going. but the fact of the matter is i've seen more players quit the game now solely because they can't progress through to having 5* gear than i've seen players quit the game over mist energy and elevator fees. the general impression that i get from the game now is that the player base cares more about the game than the staff, and that the higher up the corporate ladder you go, the more apathetic the staff seems to be.

it might seem like a bit of a jump but think about it this way - the mixmaster was recently patched to prevent it from firing through walls/barriers and essentially bring it in line with other guns and this was something i was incredibly happy to see happen. however, the turnaround on this fix was 147 days. doing the math, which i hate doing, it took just over 40% of a calendar year to simply bugfix a gun. i won't even go into the gunner update time crunching because i'd be wasting time talking about the same %*&@ i've pointed out in the past.

i can't even come up with a hypothetical reason as to why things have pretty much nose-dived over the last two years with the game. even if we played the blame game and put it all on sega and not OOO's development team, that still leaves absolutely no explanation as to WHY - why we don't have new pve content, why it takes 14 months to push out reskins of guns and alter a few mechanics with functionality, why it takes 5 months to bugfix a single weapon, why we keep getting eye-%^*!ed with promotional content that has absolutely no bearing on the game.

simply put, the only part of OOO that still functions (arguably, at least) the same as always would be the game masters. as far as everyone else involved in the equation - OOO as a development team, sega as a corporate backer, and the playerbase as a consumer since that is, in essence, what it is? i think this speaks for itself, so don't hold your breath on new content anytime soon.

I don't know why this hasn't been said...

This is no more important then any other suggestion, so put it over there.

Make a new knight, maybe bomber only or something.

and to think it'd just take

and to think it'd just take the equivalent in effort to the flick of a switch to restore everyone's hope and interest in this game.

Who cares if it's in the right sub-forum? Maybe if they're forced to move it they'll end up actually reading and considering some of what we're trying to tell them... as if they haven't already decided against it.

The GMs already read it and they likely get tons of these complaints through support anyway, it's the developers that need to do something about it.

Because Spiral Knight's monetization model was doomed from the start. The game practically discourages you from spending money, for that cheapens the experience and makes the challenge disappear. For a while, SK was held afloat by several big spenders who'd churn out large sums of cash a week, but said players soon became bored and have moved on to other games. SK is slowly dying, and has been dying for a while now.

Says the guy who uses sparks on depth 25 and insults one of the best LD player at the same time... *slowclap*

Ezho and I were talking about it

Insane mode. Having two player would double the mobs, 3 would triple and 4 would quad the number of mobs on the screen.

That'll give most vet something worthwhile... though I doubt whatever you say

Just multiplying the enemies doesn't really add much. You know the second floor of FSC with all the sprites? You know how zombies spawn in the middle room after every sprite rescued? Try doing that floor without killing any of the zombies in the middle of the room until the end. Whether it's 5 zombies or 50, it's still the same enemies, doing the same attacks, spawning in the same places. You need to at least add in some sort of gimicky twist, like giving all the zombies back shields and make them do curse... Oh right! Shadow Lairs already exist for those who want a challenge.

@ rhagnarock: since you're choosing to go with ad hominem instead of addressing the points of the thread appropriately, allow me to step in for but a moment and we'll just do this by the numbers

1. if you're going to use LD as a source of credibility in terms of player ability (of any sort) then you probably deserved whatever was said in the run that you brought up, end of discussion on that point.

2. ignoring the fact that you ignored the concept proposed with "give us a reason to play" and instead decided to put your two cents elsewhere, you're essentially suggesting "quantity > quality" in terms of pve development. i'd like to point out the compounds level set, in which this was a design issue when they introduced the miniature mobs. this is artificial difficulty at best and does very little to add to the quality of the gameplay outside of drown players in boredom figuratively speaking. how is what you're "suggesting" different from that?

3. you're also suggesting "quantity > quality" when the game engine/source code has a hard enough time keeping up with loading levels and actively dealing with monster spawns if you're using the default java setup (i.e. not utilizing the extra.txt modifications that were provided by the userbase in various forms), so that begs the question: how does your suggesting an increase in mob spawns bring anything new to the table in any capacity?

@Retequizzle

I'm not taking Jefree-star seriously because he kept insulting Ezho in a FSC run... Having an insane mode was just a discussion me and ezho was talking about. I'm more of a fan of bringing the old AI back but I know that boat sank a long time ago and nothing will actually change with this game, difficulty wise.

Elite mode can hardly be labeled Elite if you ask me.

And frankly, having a lot of mobs would be kinda nice and entertaining. I'd love to do a 4 vana fight, or 4 JK fight, just for the heck of it... Java can be optimized, you know the game Minecraft? It runs on Java too and was properly optimized compared to what it was...

Why should you play SK? Cause you can buy Steam games with merchant? Can buy high priced item with enough grind... I'm buying GTA V thanks to SK, it'll cost me 0$ since it's all in ce.... That's my reason to play, if you can't find one then maybe you should look for another game?

Edit: Also OP never responded to his Thread...
