I believe this is related to this issue. If you are running Java 8 64bits, Try installing the 32bits version, instead.

Try Spiral-Market's suggestion too.

Here's an idea but I need some information:
1. Do you have SpiralKnights on Steam?
1a. If yes, how many Steam games do you have installed?
2. How much remaining hard drive space do you have?
3. How much RAM does your computer have?
4. Is your computer system 32bit or 64bit?
5. Do you have Java 32bit or 64 bit?

I suggest the following:
1: Verify the Spiral Knights cache or whatever. (I don't mean defragmenting, at all.)
2: Uninstall Spiral Knights.
3: Uninstall Java OR update Java if applicable.
4: (Re-install if uninstalled) Check to make sure you have the right version of Java. (32 or 64 bit)
5: Go to the Java site and do the up-to-date check with your systems default internet browser (Internet Explorer or Safari)
6: Run something that uses Java.
7: Install Spiral Knights.
8: Restart the computer.
9: Run Spiral Knights.
10: Quit out before you log in or before you select a character.
11: Restart the computer again for good measure.
12: Start Spiral Knights and play as normal.

I would normally say that this thread belongs in the tech support. But you just link to another thread in the tech support.
