Lockdown 1 versus 1 tournament 2015 - Sponsored by Mengh

Started Feb 10th.

By entering the tournament one agrees to the rules.
If needed I will change rules.
I have the right to close the tournament and refund all players leaving the spot open for someone else to take my role as host.

-Rules-

There shall be no usage of Auto Target
To prove the first rule is followed, participants has to record and upload videos of their fights. How to - link
Same main server fights play til one has at least a total of 5 kills and 2 more than the other. (Example: 5-3 = win, 5-4 = not done, 6-4 = win.)
EU main server VS US main server fights play twice, once on both servers with same score rules as for above case.
If a round surpasses 3 minutes the running coward loses the round, unless the case was mutual and the player with most hp wins the round.
All guns inflicting shock/freeze on basic attack are banned.
The piercing/elemental/shadow versions of the Blaster line are banned.
All status inflicting Pulsar line guns are banned.
All snowmaps and Furnace are banned unless both parts have zero ducks given.
If healing other than from your own guardian shield is done during a fight, it is not valid if it mattered.
During active rounds neither parts can enter their base.
Tied kills end in 1 kill for both parts.
Fights are to take room in tied infinite Guild vs Guild matches. Once the match capture score is tied all but the 2 participants and the judge leave the match.
Entry fee: No longer needed.
Prizes: 1st prize 5k ce. Bonus prize: 500 ce prize to best looking play style (Chosen by myself and Tempas).
Inactive players can only be replaced if they did not play any fights.
Auto wins will be given if the other is inactive enough to hinder the tournament from proceeding.
Only one player per person can enter. Doing so will end in disqualification for both those knights.
If there is no doubt a knight used AT, it ends in disqualification from the tournament.

-Rules for judges-

Enforce all the rules
Use public chat to say names of ones being responsible for capturing at the start of the game.
Use public chat counting down every round "3" "2" "1" "go".
Use public chat to tell the score after each round.
Judges will be picked out to suit each 1v1.

Tournament events:

Win = 3 points
Loss = 0 points
Auto loss = -1 point

In case of tied points the winner in the match of those players trumps.
In case of circular infinite loop highest K/D ratio trumps.

I agree with all the rules except this one ( love the best looking style reward) : Everyone has their own playing style and a "coward"one is totally viable as long as it brings victory. I mean, a recon has to wait for his chance hidden for a long time , it can makes the fight long enough but isnt it worh it?

The average time of a round without any running and that is 30 seconds or so. At maximum they reach 60 seconds. Making that a time limit would end endless matches like pony vs bley. Also, the recon cloak would run out multiple times before the time limit is up and is more than enough time to complete the match .

about these tournaments:

Isn't it kinda….stupid, these tournaments? I mean you have the same players in every 1vs1 and 2vs2 tournaments and rarely get any 'new', medium good players, because they are either
1: not on the forums
2: not quite good enough (lack of skill, pentas or UV's)
3: don't want to play since they know they will lose anyway

Now having the same ppl play again and again, we already have the rankings where the 'pros' here can show their skills.
What I mean to say is maybe make these tournaments for medium players, so they can have a nice 1vs1 experience too, without getting crushed. Of course you will then have to tell them about these tournaments, best in-game or mail players you think might be able to qualify themselves

It's not skill unless everything's fair. Sure you can turn off AT, but the biggest factor is latency/ping. And you can't change it ( easily ), so you can't 'measure' skill like you would with water, sticking a value on it, no.

A little more seiously, Here's how you >estimate< skill more accurately. This method takes latency, 'luck' (obviously just statistics, just like how GF/DA doesn't need aim ( aim =/= skill, don't get offended ) since it's 50/50), multiple attacks in a higher concentration ( also known by the community as, "omg spam, stop or listen to me cry." ) it takes all of this into account and then runs it through 0.99∞ simulations to become as close as possible to the limit - the actual skill level - and is measured in, and called the 'Baws Score, Bs Units'.

My current 'Baws Score' after posting this comment is over 9,000.

measure skill? idk, but I guess if you have 2 ppl with the same armour and weps and same UV's, both ppl have the same connection and the smae amount of LD experience, and one still wins clearly, I guess he is more skilled?
Ban good players from tournaments because they are too good? I never said that, I meant that they already have the 2015 rankings where they can battle each other. It's like having the top 20 players have rank games (rankings) and then just for fun have them play each other in random order again(tournaments).

People like me don't get to play in the rankings at all. The rankings themselves have been up for a month(the 2015 ones at least) and I've played 1 person so far. These tournaments allow people such as myself to fight a wider variety of people. Also, some people may think it's a hassle to climb the rankings and may not bother with it but tournaments are generally less tedious.

What about people breaking rules. For example:
If a round surpasses 3 minutes the running coward loses the round, unless the case was mutual and the player with most hp wins the round.
Suppose this happens. The judge can't look at the HP of both players and one could lie about it to win. Imo this should result in an autoloss.
Also, is this rule about actual hp or percentage of HP left? For example, a Guardian could have 40% HP left and still have more HP than a Striker with 50% left.

Once the match is tied all but the 2 participants and the judge leave the match.
Might wanna clarify this to something like
Once the teams have tied scores everyone but the [...]

Seeing how we are 6 groups now, there'll be small changes in the structure.

The 3 with most points in every group will make it to the next stage except for the 2 with lowest k/d ratio.

So once the groups are done there'll be 16 players left that fight in single elimination.

Structure clarification post:

First and second place in every group are sure to make it through.

All third places fight to decide which 2 of the 6 that doesnt make it through.

k/d will only be used for tied groups. So losers have to have their files ready in case they want to ensure a better k/d ratio.

example of tied group:

A beats D and B. B beats D and C. C beats D and A.

I have a question regarding the rules .

How can you ban the arcana/riftlocker/phantamos and not the BKC (chaos too to a lesser extent)? If we compare the power of a Valliance with a BKC set and the power of an arcana without a BKC set ( notwithstanding shadowsun because ya know, swording handicap and all that), what do we realize?

The BKC confers a more powerful shoot to the valliance than the elementary/shadow/pierce does.

I don't have the numbers but I tested with a friend at the training room but to say simply : " The BKC set is more OP than the weapon".

I agree. With the large ban on statuses, banning Chaos/BK would also be a decent choice. They're too dominant and there's no real reason to not use them because their biggest drawbacks are eliminated.

I disagree, excessive hybrid power with no real drawback is overpowered with other guns as well. Nova, Valiance, et cetera still get a huge boost from BK/Chaos.

I'm not buying it for BK stuff, not even just BKC. No one would get it as their first and only set, not even one piece. For Chaos, it might be true, but that's like arguing that Polaris should be allowed because some players don't have anything other than a Pola and Hail Driver since they've been around for so long.
