Something I enjoy a lot when checking out other communities such as Smash and TF2 is that people make awesome gifs, mostly thanks to gfycat and imgur's gifv format. Let's make some of our own, no matter if they're of PvE or LD or whatever! I've gotten us started with this one!
Let's make some gifs!
@Faeyd
Because clearly he needs to improve his sword swinging technique. The gif obviously exposes several flaws in his technique.
If you look at it a few more times you'll notice that I double switch a lot. See how the weapon wheel just pops up at times? That's a close to perfect switch.
If you can figure out a way to make interesting videos and such, feel free. Unfortunately there are a lot of restrictions on what you are able to do and how you are able to look at things. There's a program called Spiral Spy that can overcome some of that, but I've found it nigh impossible to create the scenes with it that I've seen other users make.
I would also recommend the free program Gifcam as a useful tool. I don't know if you can resize a recording directly with version 4.5, but I've done the roundabout way of shrinking it in a browser and then re-recording.
If you could please don't use gifv. That format is a pain in the butt and is often unreliable, as well as uncommon.
And the prize for most off-topic and strange replies goes to this thread!
My posts have reasons. People seem to harass AT people. I know it is kinda off topic, but I thought people were going to harass you in reply form.
This isn't the coliseum, no-one's going to be judging players on AT here.
Or at least no-one should be unless they just want to be loud and argue.
After several scientific investigations I realised that you were actually replying to Traevelliath (I think) who was quite clearly being sarcastic, given that you question whether I knew of a technique I quite clearly have nailed very well.
Not at all sure why you're bringing up AT but either way, I appreciate that you defend me, as I am indeed a gamepad user and therefore somewhat handicapped in terms of aiming capabilities. However, if you look in the gif or one of my many videos, you'd notice that I don't rely on AT at all and quite frankly I find it more insulting that you assume I am unable to reach a high skill level with a gamepad than people whining about AT when I kick their butts without it. I see the latter as a compliment, in fact.
I'd actually be up for seeing some more GIFs of Spiral Knights. It's a shame APNG has such a massive file usage that unless you like uploading something, you end up with 500MB< for a 10 second clip.
I'd like to see more Krakob or anyone else. Awesome stuff!
Both imgur's gifv format and gfycat's format compress gifs greatly. I'm not sure exactly how gfycat works but at least gifv (gif video, I think) uses h264 compression, quite the same as videos. So once you get them on the web, it's no problem. Terrific quality and small size. The tricky part might be uploading them. You should be able to make most gifs less than 200mb though. That shouldn't be very hard to upload. I tried rendering the one I made earlier in 853x480p 30fps and it hit a mere 129mb when raw. You could cut the framerate to 24fps and you could make the resolution a tad smaller without any major problems.
@Faeyd
If you were indeed responding to me, then well done for seeing something I didn't. In fact, you managed to see something that didn't exist to begin with! Even if AT was being used, I don't instinctively look for it because I simply don't care about AT.
I was commenting on how your first response to a perfect fight, in one of the hardest skirmishes of the game, was to say "you could of done it better"
I insist we make content instead of arguing about formats! Looked up webm quickly. Seems nice but is there any tool for sharing such stuff as easily as you can with gfy and gifv?
I choose not to make GIF simply because getting famous on the internet doesn't interest me.
So is that The Ban Stick or what? Is there another game weapon that looks like a crowbar? It didn't seem to do an exceptional amount of damage.
It's a brandish that they file swapped to look like the crowbar that the GMs use.
You didn't know the double swap applies to sword also?
