Extend Apocrea's Event Duration

Lately, I have been experiencing major lag issues while playing Shroud of the Apocrea, mainly loss/skipping of frames. However, I'm not the only one, as there have been numerous other knights that have been experiencing such problems as well. I want to continue farming Apocrean Sigils, and I try, but the lag takes me to the point where I freeze every 6 seconds or so, which really hinders our progress towards getting the aura/weapon(s). However, this problem also affects people who aren't lagging, as having teammates that are lagging can really slow you down, since Party Buttons require all living party members to be on the button. Not only that, but the more people there are in a party, the higher the difficulty, and a laggy teammate can't really do much to help, which puts unnecessary pressure on non-laggers while frustrating laggers as it lowers their chance of survival. I don't know if the servers have something to do with this or not, but regardless, please extend this event's duration to make-up for the lag so us farmers can get what we wanted and/or stop the lag, if you can. Thank you in advance.

P.S. Either way, this event should be extended as school is still in session and it will become harder to farm on Monday and Tuesday, and not everyone can stay up 24/7 and farm Sigils.

I agree

I have also had this problem on numerous occasions and i never lag anywhere else. I am currently trying (halfway) to get the aura and its becoming very annoying and frustrating to get it in such a short time period.

+1

why have such a popular and fun event only last a short period of time anyway? it makes no sense

Agreed

Yeah, I'm going for the aura as well, and 10k Sigils in 1 week? How? I don't know about everyone else, but I can't stay up all day farming Sigils like that. If they were going to make this event last a week, they should have at least decreased the amount for the aura to 6-8k. However, even with such a "low" amount, the lag factors in and adds insult to injury.

I'm vohtarak, call me by that name

A couple theories why they changed it:
1. They realized it gave radiants, of course, why would they ever give us a chance at getting them at a reasonable rate?
2. Its not insanely unfair and RNG based, they can't let the players earn things through effort, they've already established that, they need to find SOME way to severely hinder our progress
3. Their usual unreasonable nerfs

So in conclusion, compared to what they usually do, this suggestion will never happen

It would be nice

Unless Three Rings has another thing in store for us tomorrow that would be requiring our full attention anyways (eg. arcade redux) then I see no reason not to extend this event. Having two weekends of an event will always prove more viable for all players as students will have time off, and employed people will get at least 2 days off per week(or at least should, if it's a typical 9-5 then the weekends help with that).

However the price on the aura is still fine as is. It was released last event at that price and I can't see it changing as it is reasonable - given 2-week event periods.

The aura is priced fine.

I just think that the event should be longer. That's all.

Lag problems?

Have none of you ever played Roarmulus? That's the lair of lag. I'd rather they fix the lag on Rormy (I dunno how, I'm not a programmer) than fix the lag on events that only last a couple of weeks, or extend those events.
The main missions of the game should be fixed to working order before the game starts working on fixing and changing anything else.
I get that this may seem irrelevant it's just that you complained about lag problems when really, the lag problems are ALOT worse on the boss battle of Rormy.

Lag is not the fault of OOO game designer people. it is the fault of you computers and/or internet. I speak from my experience using a computer from 2005

Turn down your settings

On my old iMac I lagged on the Ironclaw Munitions Factory, so I set my graphic settings to either low or medium and that solved most of it. The lag coming out with the Shroud of the Apocrea isn't lag, it's a memory leak. The longer you play Apocrea the more you'll lag, and thus you have to restart your client to get rid of the lag.

The Roarmulus Twins boss battle really only has lag at the beginning when your screen fades to white. This happened with the mission update, as I'm pretty sure you get teleported around before ending up at the new boss battle location.

Warning: Superiority Complex.

I don't lag on other missions really, it's just Rormy. There are plenty of reasons I can see why and they could fix some of them.

1. The massive flash at the start of the final battle to spawn the blocks (that's the worst, and the most fixable).
2. Switches connecting the entire map (I understand this is important, but surely they could just connect certain areas).
3. Shock. Shock is the most...(dynamic or static? The one that means moves alot) status in the game. They could simplify the visuals for it.

Say what you want, I know for a fact I'm not the only person who has problems with lag on this mission.

Again, turn down your settings

If you are lagging on those levels, try turning down your graphical settings. Those are in place so the visuals won't stress your computer out as much. If you are already on the lowest settings, then I don't know if you can be helped there.

Apocrea is creating memory leaks. These will make your game slow down as it is not containing itself. Thus, your game lags until you restart your game and write over the old memory.

These are both completely different kinds of lag, one is preventable (memory leaks. These come from not enough testing and/or just not writing the right code) and one is dependent on your hardware. Three Rings can fix memory leaks. They can't upgrade your computer.

Warning: Superiority Complex.

As I said, lots of people have the Rormy problem, it can't all be blamed on my computer.

They can upgrade their servers. SK has ALOT worse lag than many other games that have much higher graphics and complicity. My settings ARE turned down. I play Eden Eternal absolutely fine and that's much more complicated than SK. Infact I pretty much (I'd go so far as to say never at all, but I don't trust my memory) NEVER lag on EE or any other game.

@Fangel I have my graphical settings on "Low", yet I still lag like crazy.

@Chaos-Mist I also lag on Roarmulas, as well as Operation Crimson Hammer. I'm usually fine with other missions, though.

Ah, that's what I needed to hear

If you're lagging at the lowest graphical settings then there's not too much that can be done. It's not a server issue either, it's the fact that you (and many others) have dated computers. However, on the same vein, Three Rings should increase the overall RAM usage up from half a gig of RAM. Seriously, 4GB is like, low-normal these days with 2GB being absolute minimum. Pretty sure Spiral Knights can use one gig of RAM no problem by default.

Then there's the other issues. Frame lag is caused by the client's (AKA, player's) hardware whereas connection lag is caused by the client's connection to the server. Connection issues can only be changed if the client gets a better connection to the server (which isn't always an option) or more servers are created in more locations. It's already widely known that Spiral Knights really need more servers, but haven't gotten any extras over the years.

Basically, frame lag is your computer's problem, connection lag (i.e., you attack and a second later it connects) is the server's problem, and memory leaks (from Apocrea) are the Three Rings developer's problems. Only one of those is easily fixable, and it is the Apocrea one. The other two are much more expensive for either parties, and are not really as viable.

@Fangel

As I mentioned, I am fine on other games altogether. It's only really Spiral Knights that has this problem for me.
