So a few months back, my Dell laptop's screen went all fuzzy, and turned into very bright pillars of colors, one fourth of the screen would be hot pink, the others would be pink or vise-versa and would really strain my eyes, due to it being very bright.

So I borrowed my friends laptop by making a [scrappy] excuse about school and work, even though I would really want to use it for stupid uneventful things, like Youtube, Spiral Knights, etc. So I came to the Spiral Knights website and downloaded the installer only to find that it told me to move the game into the "Applications folder" because I'm on a Mac. So I tried to do so, but it wouldn't give me access, due to the fact that I needed the admins password.

Also, it tells me to install Java 6, which I also can't do without the admin password.

So the whole dilemma here is that I'm trying to install this game, and trying to find a way around the admin's password without deleting, changing or doing anything to the admin account.
If you have a solution or tips to other ways I can install or download this app, please leave tips down below.

algorithms are the solutions to any problem.

I don't think you can do anything without admin powers. if you aren't the owner of the computer, it's kinda hard installing anything.

Tough luck...

The only way to install an item is through admin capabilities. The only way around typing in the password is resetting the password or creating a new user account (which is also an admin) where you know the password. But, in order to create a new user account, you'll most likely need a password.

You're probably out of luck here.

There are ways to get into an admin account within your computers startup sequence I believe, but I'm sure your buddy would notice their password changing.

If this is YOUR computer you should be the admin (especially if you paid for it) if not the best you can hope to do is find and convince the admin to allow you to download this game back.

As I said before...

The best course of action would be to make a separate admin account on the computer, but usually you need an admin password to create such an account. This would only use the admin account's password, and not change it.

There are some tools that can be used in the OSX startup environment, but you would need either a recovery partition (requires a more current OS. I don't know what you're running) or boot media(USB stick with the same information the CD had on it). The only real helpful thing in that environment would be the password changer anyways, and you said you don't want to do that.

If you have the password at all, feel free to make a separate admin account and do whatever you want there. If you don't have the password, there's not much that can be done.

Nice to see you back!

Its been a while since you last logged on, and its certainly great to see that you haven't left SK for good :P

Anyways, like what everyone else has said, you can go about getting Spiral Knights in a couple of different ways. If you own the laptop, then you should be able to get admin privileges or make an admin account. If the laptop is your friend's, which seems the be the case, the only way you can get admin privilege is by getting the admin password from your friend. If nothing works you may just have to get a new laptop, which although expensive, will probably work out better than using a friend's. I hope you get this problem fixed soon, it'll be great to see you back in-game.
