I made a big mistake of making a mighty defender. Now ive got it to level 4. Collecting shinings is difficult. I cant change my mind now as I am on rank 8-2. I know both the shields do not help in Vana, but I just want to know which one is better overall. Ive got a choice now and I wont mess up this time.

Getting a 4* item to level 4 does not take many shinings. You should ditch it and make a proper shield like Barbarous Thorn Shield, Grey Owlite Shield, Crest of Almire, or something. Later on you could return to this Defender and make it a Heater Shield but you should really just make another shield straight away.

neither

The major costs break down like this:

* Recipe. Aegis' is free with missions, while Heater's costs 25,000.

* Orbs. If you're a veteran then you have a bunch of 5-star orbs lying around. But if not then this is a big cost (64,000 roughly).

* Radiants. Heating has very little effect on shields, so thankfully you can ignore this otherwise super-massive cost.

My advice is that you don't make either of them. Instead, make a shield that you truly want, such as Barbarous Thorn, Grey Owlite, Volcanic Plate, etc. Just because you have the 4-star version of an item that you don't want, doesn't mean that you should spend even more money making the 5-star version that you don't want.

The one exception would be if you have extra orbs and you just want to get 5-star clearance quickly. Then make Aegis, get clearance, and then make some other shield that you truly want.

I had a 5 star account a long

I had a 5 star account a long time ago. Already had a Grey owlite on it. So I want something different. Does BTS give shadow protection?

Okay. So what about the other proposals?

Does BTS give shadow protection?

Why not look it up on the wiki?

Heater is best against Silversaps, currently one of the more OP enemy monsters. Aegis is not that good, it's cheap but it sucks.

Heater for my vote but it shouldn't be your first item to dump radiants on.

As most of u guys have said,

As most of u guys have said, Dumping Aegis would be a good thing. I have to agree on this. So recently my friend gave me a DTS recipe. I really wanted to make Volcanic plate shield. So now its BTS VS. VPS. Please give me some advice. Also I mainly aim for a shield good for vana
Thanks in advance.

Heater shield is worth something because it has ice resistance on it. Aegis is just flat out bad because it doesn't have any status resists.

As for the new discussion- BTS is a better all around shield than VPS if you use swords and aren't maxed on damage at all times, but VPS will be much better against Vanaduke. It really depends on what you run most often though- if you run primarily FSC, then VPS is a must buy and will treat you well against Vanduke's mace attack and against trojan smashes (which is more useful than you'd think, since they can knock you over active traps without you getting hurt). If you don't run primarily FSC, BTS will be much more useful, and is akin to having a more defensive swiftstrike buckler that focuses on sword damage for whatever reason.

kind of agree

You want to have BTS at some point.

If you can complete Vanaduke using BTS without dying, then you don't need VPS. Just keep using BTS, or even "upgrade" to Swiftstrike Buckler.

If you have a lot of trouble beating Vanaduke without dying, then consider getting VPS, because its defenses are perfectly matched to the Vanaduke fight and strong in Firestorm Citadel generally.
