Two new ideas for bombs: Traps and Explosive Punches

Two weapons I thought of to expand the bomber's arsenal in meaningful ways.

It's a trap!

1. Charge the trap like a bomb. Shortish charge time, in the middle of nitronome and neutralizer.
2. Place the trap, which acts like a bomb.
3. Instead of exploding, the trap arms itself.
4. An enemy walks over the trap's narrow area of effect, and the trap activates!
5. Or the knight places too many traps/time expires (about a minute and a half), and the trap disintegrates.

Different traps could have different effects. The most obvious options would be things like incredibly strong status effects and next to no damage, as well as incredibly high damage and nothing but, as well as a ridiculous amount of knockback. I would also love to see them go a bit further and make double status variants that inflict two statuses at low amounts with next to no damage.

Explosive punch

1. Charge the punch like a bomb. Short charge time, slightly less than neutralizer if possible
2. Instant explosion in a small radius! Punching animation!

Basically we need this because bombers are terrible at casual encounters, meaning when just 3 enemies spawn. If I have a sword I can just bat those enemies away. If I have a gun I can shoot them real quick. If I have a bomb, I can MURDER THE ENTIRE AREA and it takes forever and is much more frustrating than just being able to walk up and kill them. This makes the bombers feel pretty useless, when a gunner shoots the enemy ahead of time as they go to charge their weapon.

For these I see a few easy variants being made- one with high knockback, one with ice and possibly a vortex variant that dealt a smaller explosion but sucked enemies in. The idea being that all three would play very differently. The knockback one would be safe to use at any angle, as it could knock small crowds of enemies away. The ice one would be safe to use from behind, and incredibly deadly. The vortex variant would be safe to use at an off angle and would stack very well with other weapons. Bring them in, smack them.

FALCON PUNCH

If there's not a fire-themed explosive punch called the "Burning Falcon", I will be severely disappointed.

I like the idea itself. Traps could be placed and burrow to "hide themselves", and when moved over spring up with about half a second delay before exploding. Or at least one could do that - it would be super useful in PvP.
I would say after their time is up or too many on the field, the older bombs will activate on their own for the traps. Not just poof, but actually just explode with nothing nearby. Bombers gotta boom.

The fist is a good one as well. Perhaps they have the quickest charge times (i.e., catalyzer charge times or slightly longer) and would have short cooldowns, but have very VERY little affect radius.
Also, if one of the fists could do that throw-down animation the callahan's charge used to do, then I would love it.

Yep, that would be the idea.

Traps hiding themselves in lockdown would be pretty neat, but also sounds kind of frustrating. Imagine if their entire team was just spamming the things everywhere and you were trying to play as a striker. I'd really have to see how it played out and there are a lot of ways I could see that being tweaked. Like maybe the hiding one didn't hide itself all the way, or showed up on the map so that it wouldn't be too incredible, but again would have to see.

The fists are exactly how you're saying and there's certainly room for variability (like one that does way more damage but flings you back violently). I had a few thoughts on how they'd work precisely but didn't put them in the OP because the implementation has a lot of wiggle room. My thought being that the knight would launch a normal attack that resembled a punch with the tortofist (minus the projectile), and that if the knight hit something it would spawn the explosion. Alternatively, the knight could punch the ground, and launch a brandish-like attack that hit over the area in front of them.

Well bombs are charge only.

With the fists they'd need to be charge only to be a bomb technically, so having a fast charge and fast recovery would be ideal for a "fast" bomb option.

If the bombs hide themselves they might have slight indicators where they are is what I'm thinking. Maybe a little antenna sticking out of the ground - something that's not immediately noticeable but if you're keeping an open eye you'll avoid it. Also, like any other damage, dodging over these would just not damage you.
Potentially the bombs would disappear when you died however, so if you're holding down a point and die you'll no longer have your trap tower defense going on.

Yes Fangel, that's what I meant. You'd charge up the thing and then hit them with it.
