Hey guys it's me and I just bought a Sealed Sword. My friend told me to get an Antigua but personally I was disappointed when I made my Dark Chaingun today that deals very less damage and I instead use my Blazebrand for jellies.
Soooo.....the question is this : Gran Faust or Divine Avenger?
I already have a Blazebrand as my main Ele sword and still don't have a Shadow sword. So the Faust might be better for me.
But the problem is that I really, really(!!!) like the charge attack of DA. Although I thought that Sealed Sword is too slow for me, the charge is really good and serves as a splash dmg gun.
What do I get???

Bonus Question: In which gates am I more likely to get Avenger/Faust recipes???

If you already have a Blazebrand you should get a Gran Faust for more versatility in your arsenal. You're not more likely to find either recipe for all the community knows; they're assumed to have the same drop rate. Further reading: Bopp's sword guide

I should also point out that the Dark Chaingun line is extremely powerful.

Both are very good weapons to have.

The Faust is a strong shadow sword with great knockback and a curse chance on regular combo and charge. The big downside is that the charge takes a long time to prepare and there is a good chance of you getting cursed too. The charge attack on both the 4 and 5 star are the exact same with the only difference being damage.

The Divine avenger is similar to the Faust but doesn't have any status it can deal. It is also important to note that at 5 star the Divine avenger's charge gets much better. The Avenger line has a much faster charge compared to the Faust and won't inflict you with a status. The wide spread of the Divine avenger charge makes it great for crowd control.

I would like to point out that the Dark Chaingun (and any other weapon you alchemize from the autogun) has nearly all of it's power in the charge attack. If you stick to just the regular attack you will be sorely disappointed.

Also, is the charge attack of Final Flourish better than BTB?
Pleas help as I don't have a shadow and piercing sword yet. (I still don't have any piercing wep)

The sword guide that Krakob linked in post #1 contains detailed comparisons of piercing swords, elemental swords, and shadow swords.

As Krakob pointed out, you already have an elemental sword. If you really want crowd control, then consider getting a real crowd-control weapon, such as a pulsar gun, a vortex bomb, Voltaic Tempest, Stagger Storm, etc.

The DA And Gran Faust are two very different swords. Since you already have a Blazebrand, you should probably get a Faust, as your Blazebrand will deal with elemental damage. As for your problem with speed, you are getting a vog cub as you said, so you will get the ASI boost. My point is you should get Faust. The basil can sell any recipe at any time. (Depends on tier also.). So there is no probability of a DA and a GF recipe being at a particular gate. The basil recipe's usually depend on luck.

I Prefer the charge of BTB. The charge of final flourish seems pretty useless to me. The BTB Sends out thorns with a swing. In total the BTB charge does more Dmg, than final flourish's charge.

That's sometimes true and sometimes false. Based on depth 28 against vulnerable enemies:

* Final Flourish's charge does a total of 468 + 468 + 509 = 1,445.

* Barbarous Thorn Blade's charge does a total of 468 + 160 * numProj, where numProj is the number of projectiles that hit the target.

Therefore the two do similar damage when 6 of the projectiles hit. BTB does more damage when more than 6 projectiles hit, while FF does more damage when fewer than 6 projectiles hit. Against a large enemy such as a trojan it is certainly possible to get 6 projectiles to hit, although you have to be really close.

In my opinion BTB's charge has two advantages: It can disrupt a crowd of soft enemies (such as devilites) at once, and its cooldown period is shorter.

FF seems designed for taking out a single enemy. But FF's hit box is big enough that its charge can actually kill an entire crowd, if the crowd is tight enough. On one memorable occasion I one-shot-killed three wolvers and two gremlin menders in a single FF charge.

In the end the two are evenly matched enough that my sword guide doesn't pick a clear winner. And UVs are certainly easier to get on FF.

Gotta ask, have you ever used FF charging with a vortex, Bopp? It should be pretty powerful now that I think of it, but I've never done it myself.

If you can't land a FF charge more than 50% of the time, you need to improve your aim and positioning quite a bit.

Something you shouldn't ignore

The Knight takes a step backwards and takes a powerful swing with the sword. The swing shoots out 8 black-and-red spike projectiles in an approximate 75 degree angle forwards, which is additionally followed by a phantasmal image of the Snarbolax biting forwards. The Phantasmal Snarbolax does its own damage seperate from the spikes. The Snarbolax is quite large, so with proper timing you can hit (almost) all of the enemies when they are together.

So if you manage to hit 3 projectiles and hit at least 3 enemies you already have those 6 hits. Lets imagine there are 5 closely grouped enemies in front of you. If you manage to hit 3 of them with the swing itself (hard, but a good swordsman should be able to do so) and hit 6 projectiles and hit them all with the Snarbolax, the BTB easily outclasses the FF. The BTB also charges faster than FF (according to Bopp's detailed sword guide), but I'm sure whether it really charges faster or that the charge is just executed faster.

But the Final Flourish charge can also inflict massive damage on a tight crowd. And yes the BTB does more charges per minute, due to faster execution and shorter cooldown, not shorter charge time.

I just had to say this...

I have BLACK chaingun with a combuster and really, the black chaingun does more damage because the difference between 4* and 5* is minimal. (both are heat lvl 1 xD) Its OK to compare a 2* to 3*, 0* to 1*, and 4* to 5*, but not OK to compare 1* to 2*, 3* to 4*.

Hope that kinda helped for your antigua choice. Also, just get an autogun if you want an antigua, cause really, the damage per bullet is esacly the same.

I have, Vortex + FF charge is heaps of fun, best way to get through boring Wolver Dens. FF charge does a tonne of damage if you release it at the right moment. :3

Not true at all. Faust's charge has less curse on it for both the user and the target to the point where the user can become immune to the curse, and charges significantly faster. In other words, faust's charge is usable whereas gran fausts charge is just not.

Yes, the 5* Gran Faust is a downgrade compared to the 4* Faust, I mean what is a little damage compared to an actually useful charge attack right? finally someone else agreed on that, but since we're not here to talk about upgrades or downgrades...

It is faust 24/7 m8, screw the Avenger.
