Hey, just wanted to talk about the gremlin Drakon. I've never seen one in game, and I would like to know if any of you Knights have either. They look beast! Get a load right here.

Yeah super rare and super cool. OOO Please give me a reasonable shot at getting one!
If OOO wanted everyone to get one, they would have put it into the game like every other battle sprite...
But no, we got a 1% reskin at semi-new content...
Not even the pay to players got a fair chance.
Don't give them your money until we're given a fair chance at buying it.
You wouldn't pay for a lotto ticket. Don't pay for 1% odds.
"Don't give them your money until we're given a fair chance at buying it.

Hasn't it been like this since... well... ever? Look at all these promos and tell me how many don't have that super rare, 1% odds, item.
EDIT*
Oh and you do have a fair chance of buying them. It's called the Auction House.
Yes! For the very low price of 2,500,000< Crowns!
Around 200 FSC runs so you'd better save up fast.
@Traevelliath
There's a fundamental difference between say, the first dragon wings promo and the celestial/gremlin boxes. Allow me to illustrate:
Celestial box:
80% = UV ticket garbage
19% = AWESOME armor
1% = INCREDIBLY AWESOME celestial blade/shield/wings/whatnot
What you actually want = celestial blade/shield, celestial costume set as well
What you actually get = Primarily UV ticket garbage, occasionally low-tier celestial junk
Gremlin box:
99% = fairly undesirable armor
1% = INCREDIBLY AWESOME sprite
What you actually want = Gun puppy drakon
What you actually get = 200 gross looking gremlin armors
VS
Dragon wing promo: (%s done laziliy; original post = http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/42036)
78% = pretty cool dragon wings (akin to the decent celestial armors for their time)
19% = AWESOME divine/prismatic/volcanic dragon wings
3% = INCREDIBLY AWESOME shadow dragon wings
What you actually want = AWESOME dragon wings and dragon wings, or maybe even the 3% dragon wings
What you actually get = dragon wings and occasionally AWESOME dragon wings; but you typically leave satisfied
---------
What Paintool was trying to say is that while the gambling for 1% items is OK, the prize boxes shouldn't be JUST the 1% item and that the percentage of getting items should be somewhat realistic- like the 3% of getting a shadow dragon wings. 1% is actually incredibly high compared to some of the items that have been released at around .05% = .0005 = 1 in 2000.
I think I've placed the most money of the dragon wings promo.
but yeah most of the promo boxes are a bit iffy for me since want at least one cool item out of the deal where it be the most common or not.
I want an aura prize box. Hehehe
That may be too unrealisticly wishful of me. :P
Ooh gun pup drakon, is definitely on my want list. Not exactly on the top of my wishlist.
@Fehzor
Don't forget about all the recolored armour they shove into every single box.
I don't think the recoloured armor is as bad as it could be, except for when it's like the verdant box. The verdant box is lime green, fluorescent pink, and... olive. I've yet to see anyone stand up for this color scheme and say "slow down a minute- olive, pink and lime look GREAT toghether!" ...which leads me to believe that the poor color scheme (especially since this isn't the first time we've had a poor color scheme) was done on purpose or was not really thought through enough. The end result:
Verdant Prize Box:
~89% = almost entirely undesirable verdant costumes and accessories
~10% = questionable but kind of OK still verdant improved accessories (whiskers, verdant wings, etc.)
.66% = OMG ITS THE BLOOM AURA/HALO WOOO WAIT THIS IS JUST-
.33% = A YELLOW SNIPE.. God I hope someone wants to buy this D:
What you want: The bloom aura/halo, possibly a slightly off colored rabbit tail/hat/wings/whatever
What you get: OH GOD BURN THE MONSTROSITY
But there have been other prize boxes that are better than the verdant one for two huge reasons- their colors are desirable at least to some degree, and their odds aren't as limited as 90%. For example, the
Katastrophe Returns Prize Box:
~60% = decent-mediocre shadow themed items that can be useful when buliding costumes, re-released
~22% = pretty cool new kat themed costume armors
~15% = a few AWESOME accessories that are nice to have around, but are re-released
~3% = INCREDIBLY AWESOME and rare shadowy things, most of which were re-released
What you want: The new kat themed armors and accessories, as well as possibly some of the nicer shadow costume pieces
What you get: Maybe one or two of the kat themed armors and accessories, loads of shadow costumes
All in all the shadow themed armor wasn't so bad. I have a couple of shadow pieces and use them with costumes on occasion, and despite there being a few terrible gets, overall it's a win, but really the box should have been more like this:
Improved Katastrophe Returns Prize Box:
~20% = decent-mediocre shadow themed items that can be useful when buliding costumes, re-released
~40% = a NEW color scheme to match the normal seraphynx! Or some other new color scheme!
~22% = pretty cool new kat themed costume armors
~15% = a few AWESOME accessories that are nice to have around, but are re-released
~3% = INCREDIBLY AWESOME and rare shadowy things, most of which were re-released
The reason being that there are TONS of good looking color schemes out there, because there are tons of colors. There's zero reason to not have a new one whenever filler needs to be made, provided that the color scheme looks good and is desirable. Putting it into the existing box also makes it more rare (and therefore not common). Players hate to receive common items nonstop and it's easy to make them feel loved by giving them. something that's at least vaguely "uncommon", like a divine culet.
How to design a desirable color scheme
1. Choose one or two colors that exists in a popular color scheme, these are your classic volcanic, divine, toxic, heavy, dusky, golden.. whatever people want. If you're feeling particularly motivated ask around on the forums, use the quiz thing or have some poor GM get mobbed to death in Haven with answers and questions about radiant shard fires.
2. Choose the remaining color for the set using your idea of what would go nicely with it. If in doubt, make an alt and ask around in Haven to all of the costume obsessed endgame players. They talk about costumes knight AND day.
3. Very important: MAKE SURE IT MATCHES THE POPULAR COLOR SCHEME CHOSEN. Use the model viewer if you have to. If it doesn't match, people will notice that it doesn't match and go "nope, not the thing I need, gonna wait for da next box". I know because I do this. All the time.
4. Show pictures of what it will look like alone AND with the other color scheme chosen to someone. Make sure you aren't crazy because you're making money with this.
5. PrizeboxdonePROFIT.
When it comes to prize boxes I have no idea what have been up with the recent color schemes. Since glacial I've just sort of been confused. We're using complementary colors right? Those only sort of look good, and only work if your personal color matches. With many of the other themes it's a color plus a shade of the same color, or similar colors. With a set like that you can make any personal color work with enough effort. Meanwhile, I have a vile angelic costume I have no idea how I'm going to make look good without a whole lot of prismatic or regal accessories.
Lovely's colorscheme was okay. Pink and white are close colors anyways and can match any personal color. Lime green and hot pink? Um, only red and green shades will look great in that scheme.
On the bright side, we're getting a lot more green-themed costumes which is good because there's not really any green themes. We're starting to have a rather large lack of yellow however...
Lol.
"On the bright side".
Verdant.
I hope that was intentional.
ANOTHER THING THAT I FORGOT
Is that they haven't added any of the newer accessories and never add any of the promotional accessories to the standard recolourations. I would absolutely LOVE to get something akin to a lovely ankle booster or surge themed sensor thing that hooks on to my head. Even a glacial themed gremlin suit would be interesting. How would you guys feel about a prize box that contains all of the weird accessories that have been released in prize boxes including lockboxes crossed with all of the weird color schemes that have been released in prize boxes? They're all possible (I mean just apply the reskin to it..) and it bugs me that I can't always get them in the preferred colors.
I wish that they actually included this guy in the game. I would totally buy if I could, but it's unobtainable. *Exaggeration warning so that I don't get kicked*
It's official.
OOO doesn't want to make any money.
Why don't they just let us "Dye" our basic things?
It filters the need to make a whole lot of items in a box
Just have players unbox cobalt colored things. then recolor promos would just hand out dye as well as a "Cobalt box", and you could buy dye at some store.
^Because then they can't continue to sell us the same models but in a different color over and over and over lol
Doesn't mean they can't try*
http://yppedia.puzzlepirates.com/Chroma
(Link: a OOO item that dyes any clothing item in a different game)
So, say, the Verdant boxes could feature the standard slew of costumes, but at a 10% a "Verdant Chroma" to recolor an existing costume with the lime/pink/lightgreen. Which would probably drum up more sales of the boxes so people can get their "Ragerous Plate Mail (Verdant)" or whatever.
(Example, Wine chroma has existed since 2009 and has not stopped the promotion it is associated with it)
*tl;dr I agree a dye is a good idea OOO has done before.
I've seen a few of them around, but yeah they are really rare.
Also, in order to put a link in something...
