Specifically the wicked whisker. Is it automatically awarded to all players in the party when Margrel perishes, does it drop as an item that must be picked up from where Margrel went down, or does it drop in a pre-programmed location?

I'm pretty sure that's not right - the items are put straight into your inventory. I can't say my memory is entirely fresh but I've done Margrel plenty of times anyway. Enough to get a Black Kat Raiment.

Yeah
I've been in the fight (my own book) and it is automatically given to you. Just remember that the cowl is only given to the book user.

The encounter teleports you to the summon site, regardless of where you were. Even if you were a Recruit, normally with no access to Moorcraft due to the energy barrier, and thus never being able to access Pembrooke, (or Brinks for that matter, since the only other place he occurs in is Haven and Emberlight, but Haven has been accessible to Recruits in the past due to a bug)

if I rembeber correctly (from videos I saw) it drops at the same location the BKC drops, at the central elevator shaft where you spawn.
