hello, i'm looking for some help; is there anyway to take down an auction item you've put up, or do you simply have to wait until the auction ends? thanks.

No, you don't have to wait until it ends. You can take it down if it has no current bids but you won't get the 10% listing fee you payed to put in on the Auction back.
Here's how you do it:
1. Go to Auction House.
2. Click on the "My Auctions" tab.
3. Click on the item you would like to remove from the Auction House.
4. Click Cancel which appears
5. If a confirmation message appears, click "Cancel the auction".
That's it. The item should then appear in your mail.
EDIT: Wow, I did not know that you couldn't cancel it if had bids, Bopp. it makes a lot of sense but I would've assumed the bidder gets their money back.

I mean if it's a really meaningful auction that has bids you can always buy it back from yourself with an alt.
