Maybe it is just me, but...
...with the updates that come about the game mechanics, I am starting to miss the penalties of some weapons.
That is where I think my mind will be as more updates pour in.
I can provide a sense of where this is coming from.
Last month I returned to playing Spiral Knights after having issues with my last laptop. Having never exploring the depths of the Gunner Update's benefits before, I decided to dust off my Iron Slug for the first of three rank 10 missions I finally started yesterday. Some feat of desperation or lunacy decided that I would not use my Triglav's charge attack to clear out a menacing swarm of Glorp Drops.
After my Slug was charged, I opened fire with the intent to repeat this until all died. But, in inching forward to see how many more were left at the bottom of my screen, all I saw was loot. I had no problems with that and proceeded through the level to see that the shot carries enemies like a Brandish's charge. In exploiting the combined Charge Time Reduction of my equipment, I was proud to see this at first. But after a few other observations, I saw that the animation where the wielder falls back was written out of the game along with the update. Honestly I cannot recall if the recoil and the falling increased the recovery time, but that was another thing I liked about that Magnus line nonetheless.
Once the notes of the update registered in memory, I recalled the text saying something along the lines of guns not having as great of a movement penalty as they once did. I was cool with that. But as the game gets easier to play in the absence of lag, I do miss being placed in a situation that forces me to manage my resources and behavior according to how badly I want myself and others to survive.
Maybe I am the odd ball in this scheme. Heck, half the time I am purposely running around in some of the most movement-restrictive gear possible (practically an ancient plate set and a Tortodrone shield... I need another shield but 3 star...) but I cannot say I am up for reducing the penalties accompanied by some of the gameplay mechanics.
Otherwise, this is how I begin to feel when playing, especially without the complication other party members bring into the mix.
As an additional note, I know that it is technically possible to solo everything in proto gear but I have yet to find the time to spend all day in Shadow Lair FSC on hard mode.
Iron Slug charges are now very powerful. And you no longer have the pratfall penalty or the movement speed penalty. So this weapon is just too powerful. You would like a weapon where the advantages are balanced with disadvantages.
