Eagles may soar, but weasles don't get sucked into jet engines.

This is the worst idea I've ever seen.

Nintendo has never made a pc game, so that's one no. The game would go straight down the toilet, and probably get put on the Wii U or the 3DS, not many people have that, most people have a pc though. Another thing is, you need to be 13 years of age in order to play, not like many people follow it anyways, but it makes sense. If nintendo saw that, they would remove the fact you can chat, communicate with others, (because they know older than 13 year olds will be playing), but most people that do play online games with like 10 year olds, usually do not have a way of communication, just a simple greeting message, like on Pokemon games on the 3DS now. And sega barely even cares about OOO, in fact, I don't think Sega did anything to Spiral Knights, other than the promotion costumes, which is probably just trying to get their games to sell, or more known about.

Anyways, If nintendo were to buy Spiral Knights, I would honestly never touch another one of their games again, it's the worst possible idea. If your saying this because of the devs, which is in your title, don't. The devs do try, and the try hard, you can even see that Aphrodite made a comment that they were going to delay the update because of some bugs. Which is fine, they're a very small company, so they really can't do much.

To be fair, Spiral Knights could probably work as a 3DS game. Nintendo still knows how to make a quality game when they put their weight behind it.

However, I doubt it'll happen.

Yeah, 3DS is probably the best console on the market (IMO) due to its current selection of games.
You'd still see the issues that Bignasty brought up though.

Master Sword and Bombchu confirmed for Brawl.

I have little to no arguments against BNC's claims, a case of reality ensuing is never one to scoff at. However, the idea of having Spiral Knights amiibos and Nintendo-themed items in the game is certainly tempting.

Not everyone has a WiiU or a 3DS? Nintendo out sold in consoles more than Xbox or PS combined, so just because you didnt cough out money for one doesn't mean EVERYONE doesn't have a WiiU or 3DS because I'll tell you this. Smash bros.

Nuff said.

3DS sales were incredibly high years before Sm4sh came out, because of FE:Awakening, New Leaf, Mario Kart 7, ZE:VLR, the standard array of Mario adventure/platformer titles etc, and later on, X&Y

If Mario Kart 8, Smash Bros, and Splatoon are any indication, Nintendo's been on the right track with games that play online. However, what would Nintendo have to gain by purchasing a (relatively) small game from a company that isn't even giving it the proper attention? What could Nintendo do to improve over what SEGA isn't doing?

I'd have to blame SEGA for all these prize boxes, and I'm pretty sure some day SEGA will follow the footsteps of Electronic Arts and shut Three Rings down.

At least Nintendo doesn't kill the studios they buy. Right?

I'd quit in a flash if Three Rings got bought out by EA or Ubisoft.

This is my comment

The reason I bring it up is because of two things:
Loyalty:
-For one look at how Nintendo values other owners and their titles we see this in the smash bros. series where they add new comers all the time as "surprise guests" and even now they are giving out suggestions for new DLC for SM4SH, something Nintendo has never done; patch notes and frame data statistics were a thing that was basically a new version hard copy instead of a soft copy update which is not a normal thing for Nintendo to do. Pac-man, Snake, Sonic and even all the mini characters that are assist trophies get their respective terms for characters and although you cant play as Assist trophies you can bet your heart that Nintendo thinks so hard and digs deep into the roots of a game before they say "this is one of his top 17 moves he is known for" (this includes smash ball and grabs) The game could be a stand alone .exe instead of Java scripting which could make it have better stability for online play, and even the F2P standards would be traded off for Amiibos and something new and inventive that Nintendo is always known for doing! Lets also not forget that Capcom completely forgot their long lost brother Megaman and when Nintendo released the final smash Capcom literally said "are those fan made Megamans? (they forgot the games they made of him ; o;)

-Secondly going on the point of Loyalty while there are some games that Nintendo neglects to renovate remember one thing, Nintendo is never the kind of company to thrive off of new graphics or flashy displays thats why they use DS cartrages instead of mini CD's. We could seriously see quarter sized CD's to put into your 3DS and it would have the capability to have motion eye detection with greater functionality, graphics, speed and power to do so much more all in one but Nintendo stays at the roots saying "Graphics dont make video games gameplay does." If they renovate or take on a game they treat it like all games should be and thats a video game, one that we all enjoy to play instead of just look at.

Neglect
-We all understand the situation behind Nick and if you're not familiar check the announcement forums a few rows back and read up. But he trusted OOO to branch the game out in ways it was never made imaginable. He trusted them not as workers but like a friend trusts his other friend to look after his home, the hard work he put into it and everything else just dropped once he left. In his honor they made him a statue that you can look at because the community wanted it, but they didn't do the correct thing, which was to make this game flourish so far away I'd still be wasting money on it to support it. Yes the community wanted it but when you work for a developer that was as cool as Nick you'd best believe your motivation should still stand strong regardless of him being there or not.

-Going onto the second part about Neglect for Nintendo now, there is no excuse that Nintendo did not cover. Considering the 3DS seems like a viable solution "if it were to happen" the DS, DS lite, 3DS-3DSHD all had one thing in common. They added those mushy games that all the boys looked at and were like eww mom don't waist your money on that, throw it away on Mario, Zelda, Sonic or Megaman. Those games were eww for boys but the girls loved those kinds of games; if it weren't for those games Nintendo's sales would never had spiked as high as they did! They made it a point to peak the interest of all types of gamers ranging from active moms, to Sons and daughters, they made games even for your grandma! This is why I feel the ownership should go to Nintendo since they will not neglect a game until there is a viable reason to do so.

1. You wouldn't be able to use the forums any more. alot of people like to do it.
2. You most likely would lose alot of your friends because Nintendo wants a non-harsh community, and most of that community is higher than 16 year olds, having a much more expanded, and dirtier mind than most kids, which nintendo would revolve a kid community most likely.
3. You would be limited to what you can do with your guild. If it's an online game, and then again, nintendo hasn't made many MMO games, you wouldn't be able to have a bar, or a nice cool place with a somewhat alcholoic reference, such as our guild has "Ye Olde Drunken Drakon", we'd probably have to change it because of nintendo.
4. Nintendo would change ALOT about this game in general too, not just specifics, they'd probably remove half the costumes, turn them into armors, or turn armors into costumes, or change weapons, who knows?
5. Even then, Nintendo wouldn't really know what to do with the story, they'd probably throw mario in there, then pop a couple goombas, then randomly make Zelda pop out of the core or something. (Probably not, but you get where I'm going with it)
6. One final thing, then I'm done ranting. Alot of people would probably have to change their names too, some of them maybe sexual references, or just something bad in general. OOO really doesn't care so much about it, unless it's something kinda crazy that really shouldn't be seen in game, and is offensive to others. Probably just saying "crap" in chat, would get you kicked from the game for like a week most likely, because, well it's nintendo. I love their games, but I wouldn't want to see this end up in their hands.

Personally I would hate Spiral Knights to go to Nintendo, as I stated in an earlier comment.

I wouldn't say the rights to the game exclusively, since this makes up a chunk of income for a few people to survive on, besides Puzzle Pirates and a few other games. Taking away even one of these (though for the life of me I don't know how OOO has survived $5 million debt because of Whirled's failure, so props to them for resilience) would be a pretty nasty wound to OOO, though there is a point that Spiral Knights garners less attention than its older sibling Puzzle Pirates due to the complexity of design (which, in opinion, could be changed given they had a full staff, which they don't. They're literally missing a financial analyst to supervise their mobile port [a quick search yielded the fact that iOS Puzzle Pirates has died], as well as two spots for game designers with some know-how on Java [more specifically GetDown-speak, for this game alone] [though arguably, I think a lot more people are studying languages like Unreal and Flash].)

If I was Nintendo, I'd rather buy the whole package, if I had about at LEAST $6 million in excess of the initial asking price SEGA might set to 1) boot OOO out of its debt (which I have no idea if it exists or not anymore, but I'll leave that to the benefit of the doubt for the sake of OOO's reputation) 2) keep the studio afloat as a time buffer for X amount of months / years and 3) allow for expansions / reparations to their workforce.

For point 3, that also means getting programmers to fix the content on Whirled (which I strongly advise to not view for public discretion) / dumping Whirled, improving / undoing any mistakes made in Puzzle Pirates (I heard dubloon oceans was what dealt a brutal blow to the game, in addition to player made poker-walls), and hiring a larger development crew to catalyze development / transfer the game to a different port with more efficiency.

This, not to mention the time it will take to create and implement these changes, will take a LONG while to get done. By the time any of the games in Three Rings gets to today's acceptable standards, I'm not sure if GetDown Java can compete with the efficiency of tomorrow's MMOs, which will undoubtedly host larger and less laggier sessions with each coming year.

While I'm fairly certain that this might've been an acceptable idea if Spiral Knights existed in the earlier 2000s, when Nintendo had a 75000 pt value on the stock market, today, it's only 27250 pts on the stock, less than half of what it was. And for them, that was a dramatic increase with the sales of an incredible amount of highly anticipated game titles and hardware coming out year after year against Sony and Microsoft.

Without even taking a class in economics, this idea's already shot from a business point of view.

~~~
But suppose the game is bought, and Nintendo does a cheaper override with a fresh set of designers all magically trained to use Java / already transferred the game to some easier engine. Let's talk about design.
Well, more specifically, counters to a certain cupcake's erroneous predictions :
1) Why not? Can you provide evidence where Nintendo has actively removed this type of interaction?
2) As a stand-alone game, yes. I don't know much about Nintendo's investments in MMO titles, so I hope you can supply games they have made where the standards you claim they made exist.
3) Again, I want to know where things like this has happened. As far as I can tell, in LoZ there are some alcoholic references, but there doesn't seem to be much, if any major backlash for the inclusion of a bar (as seen in Twilight Princess) in a game, but...I suppose I can agree if there was ever such a case.
4) The changes you're scared of might be good or bad...so as it stands, it's not much contribution for the pro/con of possible Nintendo purchase.
5) Well, there are plenty of unsolved elements for whoever in hypothetical-Nintendo to work with, including the Crimson Order, the Morai, even the Knights themselves. If you can't be certain about the outcome hypothetical-Nintendo might have for this game, then there's only the shadows of an unbased doubt creating tension for you.
6) And yet again, with the child blocks and a "regression" to a cleaner community. Nintendo could do a variety of things, such as changing the age-rating to accommodate a specific audience (aka your "mature" audience in question), implement filters like you said before (which shouldn't be a bad thing for the community, because you can always use substituted slurs if free chat is still allowed anyways, though by the way you speak about the game as if it was a single-player game, communication shouldn't be a really big key unless you want this game to run as it is now), and a ton of other stuff like changing the targeted audience, the type of content and style of the game, etc.
So from a design point of view, there really is no argument against it as an MMO if the cupcake is talking about smaller-scaled-to-solo gameplay. OOO isn't dishing out content, and there's this baseless fear of Nintendo changing this self-destructive status quo set up as the opposing reason against a Nintendo purchase...
...what? Have you played anything that's greater than an E10 rating from Nintendo, or is the most mature thing you've seen would be LoZ? O.o
