Dear OOO,
I know you were BADLY burned by oversharing in the past, and that caused you to go mute for a while. That's understandable.

Perhaps it is subjective on my part but I feel in the past few months you have been communicating more frequently to us via forum posts and IG mail. To this I say: THANK YOU!

Regular communication breeds happier players. It makes people feel connected to the developers when they are told/shown about progress.
It's hard to feel like "OOO doesn't do anything except reskin costumes" when we know you've been fixing things behind the scenes (or are building new scenes!)
It's easy to get excited when we get snapshots a month in advance of some new goodies we'll enjoy. :)
It's a great thing to see the "Admin" tag on forum posts--it means we know you're reading and conversing with us.
It's smart to send updates via IG Mail as well as the forum. I doubt many Steam players even look at the proper forums.
I hope you continue this and do it even more.

One suggestion: I remember when you would regularly post your bugfix list. That would be a great thing to do again.
You obviously haven't stopped fixing bugs (I've seen my ATI graphics card issues reduce their frequency; I've heard about a couple security patches.) So let us know about the little things so we know what you've been working on.

I know you won't talk about what's on the horizon--and you shouldn't. We've seen how badly that goes. But please, keep talking about what's around the corner and what we've passed by. :)

Thank you for speaking up!

Last I can remember

Last I remember the burn was when one of the developers directly came on for when the obsolete achievements were turned legacy. Some perfectionists were mad and basically said that the developer had opened the gates of hell, and when they directly said why they did it (using a joke of sorts - was a good allusion IMO) those same players ripped on them saying they were "unprofessional", and essentially forcing the dev to apologize. It was sad, really. :(

However in the past few months it's been nice to see the game masters talking back and forth with us. :) Makes overall forum morale higher!
So I'm going to chime in my voice in saying: Thanks Three Rings!

Also Helios, I still owe you a snowball to the face. >:(

Thank you OOO

I have to say, I like this post. It is great that OOO is replying back to us, it's a good a thing! Like you said, Chesire, when developers interact with us, "people feel more connected to the developers..."

Thanks OOO!

I haven't been looking around. Is this true? Are they doing anything past clarification, jokes, small talk, etc. ?

Having friendly moderators/devs is good, but if the communication is effective and they actually discuss what players are worried about or want to change, that's great!

My biggest frustration when I was an active presence in this game's community was that the devs listened, but would never discuss. Most anybody ever got out of them was 'this is our stance on this particular thing' and that was the end of it.

-sigh-

"Some perfectionists were mad and basically said that the developer had opened the gates of hell,..."

Some perfectionists said the developer had opened the gates of hell!? A bit strong considering all a few players did was voice their disappointment and ask OOO to reconsider a way those achievements could still be received. A few even suggested a couple of simple ways to add them back into the game. Hardly accusing anyone of opening gates to anywhere, let alone hell.

"...and when they directly said why they did it (using a joke of sorts - was a good allusion IMO) those same players ripped on them saying they were "unprofessional", and essentially forcing the dev to apologize."

What the developer said was almost literally, "too bad, so sad!" He might as well have added, "sucks to be you," while he was at it. It was rude and, whether you agree or not, it was unprofessional.

Regardless, I returned to SK after a long absence to check out the new content, not rehash the past.

I am glad to hear that OOO has been communicating with the players more. Proper communication makes the game better for everyone. I always used to love when Nick would post clues to upcoming content or little nuggets of lore and trivia.

There's some irony in this thread, are we going to mine it?
