I joined a JK party while the
I joined a JK party while the old gate was still up (but after the update), so people HAVE seen him, at least if they thought to go check before the gate was rotated out. JK and the mini jellies seemed completely unchanged, but the normal-sized jellies had spikes. ...the other members of my party were constantly complaining about the changes, but I didn't notice a huge increase in difficulty.
Like I said, a bunch of angry Karkat's. Don't flame them, or they'll troll you.
