I think it'd be great if there was a way to transfer items and crowns between your own characters without having to unbind or use the mail system, for players trying to make another character, being able to transfer materials, crowns and rarities this way would be absolutely awesome! :D

Er....
Technically you can trade via Steam (if you use it) and claim anything that's traded to you on any account. But, well, gear is bound to your character. Only thing that should be transferable between knights on the same account should be energy (which already is), and potentially bound costumes. One because your account paid money, not your knight, the other because it doesn't affect gameplay.
But I do agree with Ohpie, nothing outside of energy really makes sense to be freely transferable between knights on a single account.

Mutliple Knights allow multiple names, mission completions (and thus equipment, especially if you accidentally vendor something like the High UV'd gear you get at the start of the game), additional orbs if you wasted yours on something dumb, more sparks and of course the big one, another pet.
Also, if you have multiple knights you can join more than one guild and roleplay too.
I'm wondering why creating other characters would benefit you? It's not like your locked into one class, you can mix and match at any time. Although, if you would like to, feel free to do what you want.
Also, storage is limitless.
