Greetings,

Something that has bugged me ever since their launch, was Shadow Keys. They advertise Shadow lairs as the most profitable location in-game (and they are technically right, if you're looking at just the crown payout in comparison to any other levels). However, as we all know, shadow keys are very pricy. Even if you split the cost among all four party members, you will be paying about four times the payout you would recieve, just to play.

Personally, I don't think this is very cool. Shadow lairs are some of the most enjoyable content the game has to offer, and to make us pay an arm and a leg just to enjoy that, is simply poor development. I understand the reward involved; The ability to craft shadow lair items. but even that is mostly cosmetic due to their severe lack of stats.

Over all, I simply believe that we shouldn't be paying so much just to enjoy the best parts of the game. with that being said, I would like to suggest that Shadow Keys be changed in price from 1800 Energy, to a mere 800 Energy.

By changing the keys to 800 energy a piece, even splitting the cost 4 ways, would still not make enough profit within the levels to outweigh the cost to play it, but being such a significantly cheaper cost, you can come close to breaking even (assuming you were lucky payout wise and skilled enough not to use sparks). I feel making such a change would allow us to truely enjoy shadow lairs and play them a lot more often for the enjoyment of them, and them not be a rare occurance most of today's generation of players have never fully experienced. (Most players I meet have never completed them all)

It would still cost to enter, but would be much less painful of a fee to enjoy the game's best and most challenging content. I simply feel it's a shame to keep the best stuff literally under lock and key.

Thoughts?

Just a few thoughts:1) If

Just a few thoughts:
1) If you buy the keys from other players, you can usually find them for 1500 energy or less (they got 1 free from a box or bought one theyre not gonna use anymore). If you split the costs at 1500, you can easily break even on UFSC, you still lose a bit on the other ones. (you have to count boss tokens + the materials too). I understand breaking even for doing a mission doesnt really sound appealing, but the SL armors dont require recipes, so you save 50k per set by crafting them over regular 5* sets. So for new players who need a useful armor like snarbolax set, its definitely a great deal.

2) Now this is the best content for you, because you dont get to play it often. I think that if it became closer to a regular mission instead of something you dont get to do whenever you want (right now you need to find people willing to go with you and its a long run from d18 to the end of the SL), it would soon lose its status as some of the most enjoyable content.

3) Lowering the cost means you get to play it more. A lot of the difficulty in this game goes away with repitition, because everything becomes predictable, so they would definitely become less of a risky adventure (for new players) because a) the cost was lowered so if you fail it huts less, b) you will fail less often because you can practise more.

EDIT: got ninja'd by hexzyle, he pretty much sums it up

Hmm

I wouldn't mind seeing them extremely rarely drop from a new special box in the Refuge (area with a bunch of loot after you get through all that mess in Dreams and Nightmares). Like that one box in Grinchlin Assault that can drop ring trinkets, there could be this one lone box in the refuge that could drop a shadow key (a 50cr coin if it doesn't drop a key, or even 3 radiants to keep the fwumpage to a minimum). This would also make sense to me. Help the sleeper. Fight the swarm. Sometimes it feels like SK reveals stuff backwards, since lairs were released quite some time ago. Plot filler! Perhaps it could be more likely to drop if you did well against the swarm in the preceding floors, though that's not really how the game likes to roll with RNG.

I've read that shadow lair keys can rarely come out of radiant forge boxes. If we were to add the specialbox to Refuge, these would be two rare "free" locations that would 1) encourage more play and 2) allow more access to shadow lairs without spending energy, which is something that really upset a lot of people back in the day - not a huge issue now, but still and finally, 3) still keep it from being as overplayed as other endgame areas but give players more options.

i like..

I like your options dracora speaking. Thinking up an altenate way we can aquire ahadow keys through already a rare system like the drop rate for the dark fang shield is a great way to not limit players to different possible ways they can aquire a rare under use item like the darkfang shield. Keeps the devs energy economy going wuth minimal to mo impact effect of the change made. This would not be game breaking at all, and put money in players hungry and lucky enough to get their hands on a forge box And got a shadow key. Keep on posting my friend.

On another note, i hope someone out there can yake a look at my suggestion blandaxt compound ideas.
