Has there ever been any knight that found substenance for progressing through the game purely by acquiring their own weapons and armors from opening boxes in the clockworks? Is it actually possible or to achieve a full loadout of 5* equipment like this in the span of a week?
The chosen one and the treasure box gear drops.
I mean it's probably possible (meaning literally >0% odds) to find gear back to back in every treasure box on an arena, to the point of having much more than just one 5* loadout. But that's unheard of.
@Bopp: "My personal experience is that an item drops about once per 10-15 days of playing time."
Is this cummulative? And if so, is this for individual knights or does it extend globally to every players so that only a few out of the entire playerbase get the chance for a drop every once in a while?
I also can't help but imagine the possibility of obtaining Forge Prize Boxes for every level-up as well as Lockboxes and valuable mats at every Prize Wheel. Not to mention encountering Love Puppies, Rock Jellies, Impostocubes, Soul Jellies and Mewkats at most given opportunities.
Hypothetically, let's say I have personally logged 300 days of playing time. And during that time I have personally received about 20 or 30 item drops. Then I'm finding about one item per 10-15 days of playing time.
During those 300 days of play, I may have seen my teammates get lots of items too (unless I play solo all of the time). I'm not counting those in the figure above.
And of course there are hundreds or thousands of other players, whom I've never played with, who are also finding boxes. Probably every day some player somewhere finds an item.
Let me know if I've misunderstood your question.
Then that would be based on observations, not on the actual programmed codes for the droprates. If that was the latter, then only a few people would be able to get gear drops within a certain period of time, on a first-come first-served basis, rather than the droprates simply just being really low. That's a rather dreadful thought and implication.
Right. I do not claim to have access to the program code.
All of my figures are based on a rather vague recollection of my personal experience. So you should not take the "10-15 hours" figure very seriously. We'd need more careful reports from more players, to pin down the rate more precisely. I wouldn't be surprised if the average was more like 5 hours or more like 25 hours.
Based on my general experience in gaming and programming, your "first come, first served" idea seems possible but not probable. Rather, I suspect that each occurrence arises independently based on a very small probability.
As Fehzor said, the week of progress that you're asking about in this thread may be technically possible but is certainly extremely improbable. Cheers.
This kind of reminds me of Roy Sullivan, who was struck by lightening seven times- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roy_Sullivan
I guess these kind of things do happen since they can, albeit almost never.
It most certainly is unlikely to see a situation as suggested occur, I would not argue it. Yet, that's exactly what caught my attention on the matter. Were it not the case, the common frequency of obtaining the weapons and armors would very well lessen the incentive of spending energy and/or other ressources on them, either crafted or straight from the Supply Depot, to a great extent.
Over the near four years I've been playing, I've only witnessed two 5* items from boxes, so.... a week? Yeah, that's cute. :D

You've been playing for four years straight?
5958 hours, that is somewhere around 250 days?
I started in the summer of 2011, you get the point. :D
In my slightly over 1 year, I've found a 1* breaker helm and a 5* love puppy token. That's all. No, at that rate it would take a long time to equip a 5* set.
I haven't seen a detailed data set about the frequency of item drops (the Wiki Editors thread doesn't count). My personal experience is that an item drops about once per 10-15 days of playing time. And these items are almost never 5 stars. So my guess is: No.
