I haven't spent a penny on CE since and i'd happily sell my account if I could.

Anybody else still pissed about the 5/17 cash grab?
Since every other thread is a complaining thread... yeah I'd guess some peple are still pissed. Frankly I wish you complainers would stop thinking you each need your own new thread.
Most of the threads I see are whining about CE prices.
I just wanted to know if anybody else still harbored indignation about the changes from a month ago, or if it was just me.
Weekend night, population of the gates is 75, 114, 107, and 246 going left to right.

as the boycott has not been called off....
Hey Austenite my IGN is Auorora, please mail me all your unbought CE before you quit. I'll pay you a penny!
The vast majority of players don't even know who Madnus is, let alone know about his boycott.
I support the boycott. That is, I support Magnus never posting again about how he's the "best" player in SK, or any other person who cries about their precious end game being removed. It's a crappy end game anyway. OOO needs to make something real. Selling gear is barely an end game in other MMOs, it's just one of many ways to make some money. Is that what an end game should be? Amassing virtual crowns and "helping" lowbies (but only if they cough up the virtual currency!)? OOO should look into customizing guild halls, making some form of property that can be attained, influence into how bosses act, editors for danger rooms, competitive PVP, or other crown sinks.
I also boycott viewing anymore videos with almost unreadable pixelated text (yes, even at 720p). That wasn't pleasant.
people are still on about the boycott? old new is old if they dont want to buy fine dont drag people into it though
OOO makes the decisions not the player base if only they realized what undoing the 5/17 patch would do the longevity of SK over all instead of trying in vain the revive their method of making money
Seems like people have either quit the game or adjusted to the new state of things. It takes longer to get top-tier gear now, but it's still possible. CE prices are rising for various reasons, people will always complain about having to spend more money (even when it's pretend money) but that's the way the market goes.
The whole boycott thing seemed pretty weak, really - "I am outraged and quitting the game, WHO'S WITH ME?", as if you need a bunch of people to do the same as you to validate your decision. If you don't like how the game's run, stop playing and move on. There's plenty of more important stuff to get outraged at and protest against.
I'm playing less not because of a boycott I never heard about on an unreadable video message... but because I got tired of the whole playing limitations, even when I paid a good amount of money... So I started playing other games without this limitation, and now I'm kinda getting tired of the limited playing time worries... crafting was exciting once, now its a flooded cheap market with UV leftovers and whatnot... I still play sometimes though because the action is nice, hope PvP makes everything better
I am but I have moved on to more important things.
It never really struck me as a cash grab, IMO. In a game where the only method of advancement IS your gear, I figured the market would be more centered around recipes and low-* entry points into higher-tier alchemy paths.
High endgame equipment in this game is akin to max-level in others. Selling top-notch equipment here just ... seems analagous to buying/selling EXP. It always seemed like they were addressing a problem they saw with their advancement system more than anything else.
It never really struck me as a cash grab either. Just the foundation for further changes, while temporary setting the game back to alpha status. (they even added gamebreaking bugs for a brief period of time! (going solo was broken))
They just knew they couldn't deliver the needed content (6* weapons and core) fast enough, so they made the current content harder to get, and removed some endgame features while doing so.
Which obviously lowers the number of people getting 5* equip as much as it got more expensive. So it's certainly not a cashgrab. Anyway, with the redesign in crafting costs I doubt we'll see 6*, and it's rather not needed either. But can I has endgame pls?
I was kinda content with letting it go but now it kinda resurfaced. The moment I realized that every imbalance is more or less intentional so you have to buy specific gear to be able to play without getting insta gibbed by shock/freeze/fire/gunpuppies/whatever kind of intensified the whole thing. Also, CE rising didn't make it any better.
So yeah, I'm quite turned off in general, and it all started with that patch, and it's still a sore spot that instead of healing gets scratched open with every single update.
After the crafting update, it costs $19.28 to craft your first set of 5* gear - helmet, armor, shield, and 2 weapons. Although if you optimize your mist and skip a lot of days playing.... you could save on that and pay just $14.63 ; comparatively, it was $7.98 for crafting that first 5 pieces of 5* gear. Even with the incentives in the starter pack, it was just a -much- better deal to buy CE before the crafting update.
(These numbers are from using the $19.95 package price for buying CE within the US. Buying different packages or buying where there are taxes and tariffs that may apply could change these numbers - mostly upward though you could save a little bit by buying a larger package.)
I ran these numbers because I was seriously thinking of purchasing CE, until I realized how little crafting I really get for my money. If I don't get bored of the game I -might- buy the starter kit at some point but it's a little hard to reconcile paying $20 for just one of the costs in the process for one minimal set of gear. (By minimal I mean, no extra weapons/weapon slots/trinkets/trinket slots... it is still 5* gear!)
And while I think it's a bit off-color to call the crafting cost changes 'the cash grab', it certainly effectively more than doubled the cost of the game and I and pretty much everyone in my guild still groans about it every time they go to craft something 4* or 5*.
If you have to make a thread to remind people then chances are not as many people give a crap now.
