I think this can actually work, even though OOO did'nt listen to any of other energy suggestion, this can be the compromise everyone will love.

Mabey you can make trinkets that compliments mist energy in some way, like this:

very high:.....+200 ME........................................................50%

We can also make a perma-trinket slot for about lets see 1k energy.

also there should be UVs for armor that compliments ME in some way on the chart i made.
