I've always said it in my head as "ay-CHEER-on" but apparently it's "AK-uh-ron".

It's named after a river in Hades over which Charon ferried the souls of the dead. The more you knowww.

I knew it was ak-uh-ron when I first saw it
But it bugs me that so many people in game SPELL it archeron, the spelling is literally right there
Never seen anyone spell it archeron, but I always thougt it was pronounced 'ash - uh - ron'.
How do you get the pronunciation that wrong?
Edit: nice edit core, (his post before the edit was waaaay off)
I'm pretty sure its pronounced Arch - ear - ion....
Nah jk I passed 5th grade. Though I did see it spelt Archerion one time
On the Acheron page, there is a link to Wikipedia's Acheron page, which tells you how to pronounce it: "The Acheron (/ˈækərən/..."
I mention this only because it may help you with other items. Many of them have Notes sections that explain their referents. Cheers.
I'm going to spell it Ikea ran

how do you pronounce the japanese names of anime? :)
I used to call it how should be pronounced (ak-uh-ron),
But then I moved onto (ash-er-on) because it sounded cooler.
lmao
Wrong. Charon ferried the dead over the Styx. The Acheron is another underworld river (god).

In the movie Master And Commander, the French warship's name Acheron is pronounced "ASH-er-on."
AK-er-on just sounds weird.
You guys really need to study your history a bit better. here's recordings of a linguistics expert translating some early scriptures describing Acheron.
@ Dutch-Oven Yup, that's exactly how I remember it was pronounced. Lol
It's spelled "Acheron", but it's pronounced "Throatwobbler Mangrove".
Disclaimer: this may not be true.
Game Masters always tell the truth right? "Throat-Wobbler Man-Grove" it is.
Game Masters always tell the truth right?
Do they now?
... Hyperion, where were you on the night of April 9th, 2015?
All along I've been saying it a-chur-on in my head.
I'll never look at the world the same way again.
Welp, there we have it folks, Acheron will from now on be known as the 'Throatwobbler mangrove'.
Well, looks like I'll be calling that shadowy sword "Throatwobbler Mangrove" from now on.

Menish: Hey, Jim, got a Throatwobbler Mangrove so we can go slicing the Royal Jelly?
Your friend Jim has logged off.
Menish: Fine, I'll just solo JK with my Throatwobbler Mangrove. Good riddance, Jim!
You are no longer friends with Jim.

Hyperion done good.
I kind of knew it was Ak-eron not At-churon... but idc, still calling it At-churon <3
Lol, Charon ferried the souls over the River STYX, not the River Αχερον.
The more you know.
The River ACHERON was the river of the damned and was used to torture the damned. It's also the river of pain and darkness.
Apparently some sources say that Charon worked the Styx, and others say that we worked the Acheron. This is all in the Wikipedia article Acheron (linked from our wiki) and the Wikipedia article Charon (linked from there).
I first read it as Archeron. When I saw this thread only did I realison it was Acheron. Now I know it's Throatwobbler Mangrove.
For the longest time I thought it was Archon. When I finally noticed it was Acheron, I pronounced it in a similar way (ah-ker-on).
Ugh the throATwobbler mAAngrove is so annoying in lockdown.
Turns out my entire life has been a lie.
