So with the release of the new DLC for SSB4, I wanna ask this; what's your favorite character?
My favorite is either Robin or Marth. Fire Emblem has the best representatives. <3
Oh, and if anyone wants to fight, my name is RocketJelly. (WiiU)

Oh, and if anyone wants to fight, my name is RocketJelly. (WiiU)
SSB64= Falcon
Melee= Luigi (that wavedash is too easy and so long xD)/Falco
Brawl= Snake/Lucas (down tilt is so fun)
SSB4= Robin/Ganon/Zelda/Roy's our boy
Roy's MY boy.
Anyway, why are there so little Robins online?
SSB64 = Fox
Melee = Luigi/Bowser/Falco
Brawl = Lucas/Bowser/Falco
SSB4 = Villager/Falco/Bowser/Charizard/(occasionally Luigi)
- Bowser's mostly because I'm a fan of the character more than anything, but I'm glad he's not as terrible in SSB4 as he was in previous instalments.
- Falco's stylish and a lot of fun to play, also quite like his character
- Lucas got me into the Mother series and was my Brawl favourite, though I never liked Ness much. Not had the chance to play Lucas in Smash 4 yet
- Luigi in Melee was my main. His aerials were so friggin' great
- I switch up a lot in Smash 4, but Villager is certainly my favourite newcomer.
In short, I mostly agree with Zeke, but his Smash 4 choices are some of the lowest on my list. Robin? Roy?! Zelda?!?
@Atlas-Snowcap I like how you didn't even say anything about Ganon yet you said there was a problem with Robin.
@Atlas
Want me to change it to pre-nerfed Diddy, Rosalina & Luma, Captain Falcon, and Sheik? And endless d-throw Luigi combos
Also I'm surprised you said nothing about Ganon. But I don't do that kamikaze stuff, more d-throw u-air/up smash or flame choke x2-3 --> read --> dair
To be fair, Ganondorf's fine, I don't mind him at all.
With Robin and Roy, I dislike their designs more than their play style. Was never really a fan of the Fire Emblem aesthetic. With Zelda it's a bit of both... I just don't find either of those three that interesting, but I'm not bashing anyone who does.
Wait a second... is there not a "let's trade wii u friend codes to play smash 4 together" thread yet?
Cause I really want to play against you now, Atlas.
If you don't want to post anything you could always mail me in game, assuming you still play SK. :P
Unfortunately I played it on my housemate's 3DS over the course of the last year and we no longer live together :c I might look at getting it myself though, in which case I'll definitely arrange something.
Ah, oh well. I play it on the Wii U. :P
To not completely derail this...
I also like Lucina, and I dislike Marth. Don't ask why.
Also, I can only play Lucina in her main color, because the alt colors are not Lucina anymore, they're Nowi/Lissa/Cordelia/Tharja/Cherche/Tiki/Sumia.
I like Marth because near the beginning of a match, he can do a lot of damage with his Flourish toothpick attack. I used to be Lucina mainly, but something feels like she does more knockback with her combo... is it just me?
Although I do like playing as Lonk, I don't like Lonk players. They're always are so spammy with their distance and grabs.
@Atlas-Snowcap So you don't like them because... they look unappealing? If anything, Donkey Kong and Petch have to be the most unappealing of the bunch. Roy's smexy, while Robin looks better as female, I'll give it that.
Robin has the best air juggling attacks, a large down smash, LAZORS, and can easily combo Arcthunder or Fire into a air attack.
The main difference between Marth and Lucina is that Marth does more damage at the tip of his sword and less at the hilt, while Lucina has an even spread on her damage. As for Roy, he's literally a hilter. More damage on the hilt, less on the tip.
I don't play sm4sh so sadly I don't really know more about it but maybe that answers something.
@Sir-Henry
They look "unappealing" in the sense that I find the Fire Emblem characters too... generic-looking. Design-wise I find DK and Peach a lot more interesting. I wasn't getting on that the characters were ugly. If anything, they're just too beautiful for Smash.
Another reason why I dislike Marth is because I have a friend who just spams c-stick side smash as him. When you die at 50% across half the stage from a sweet spot smash, it isn't fun. And in melee the range on that smash is ridiculous, AND it hits you on ledges. gg.
Although I did do a 99 Marth v Marth in melee (on battlefield) like, a week ago, and I won with 8 lives. :P
I also like playing as DK, I just wish he was better. I mean, when you find people who don't know what a shield is it's great, because you can just dair chain them 2-3 times, up smash, uair, and suddenly they have 60-70%. Also 4 meteors is 2 gud.
@Atlas
I can agree that they are all similar looking. Mainly it's just their face shape.
@Sir-Henry
I don't play Marth enough to compare, but Roy has a super easy d-throw into nair combo that can be used twice to get like, 38%. Lucina's d-throw you have to combo into bair, and then sometimes you can get a nair after that (tested, it works if the enemy has ~30% best), so definitely not the same knockback on one throw at least. :P
And yeah, Robin has easy combos with arcthunder into dash attack or a smash if you're close enough, or double elfire. And some early d-throw into fair into d-throw into uair juggling. Of course most people don't let this happen easily.
@Lilla-Gumman
Yup, that's the difference. I'm gonna go check if Marth not hitting his sweet spot is equal to Lucina's attacks or slightly weaker (logic says it should be weaker). And that's why I like Roy so much, cause I can play aggressively with him -- I get his sweet spot so much more as Marth.
I checked it: Lucina side smash= 15% Marth side smash=13% no sweet spot --> 18% sweet spot. Might as well add that Roy side smash is 12%=far away --> 17% closer -->20% closest
I like playing as Robin sometimes because he tips scales.
I don't own a Wii U or 3DS so I've only been able to play at a friend's house a little bit. On the bright side, I found Rosalina to be an awesome character and I loved her playstyle. I used to play a lot of Ice Climbers in Brawl, so I guess that might be why. I played a ton of characters in Brawl, though. In melee I rolled Marth mostly when I was younger and Jigglypuff the little I've played during the last couple of years.
