One day, i looked carefully in one of the Arcade gates name, and i remember that i saw that "Ruby Bishop Gate" once..

Then i started to think.. "Does the Clockworks cycle the Arcade gates have a pattern?"

First of all, my doubt is: Does the arcade always cycle a number X of gates until it reaches again the Ruby Bishop Gate again?
Acording to the Wiki, it says: "There currently are 182 (= 13 colors * 14 symbols) possible combinations."

Ok, ok, then one of those 182 combinations is the Ruby Bishop, then after 181 Gates, the Ruby Bishop will return?

But then it leads me to Another question:

The Ruby Bishop always will have the same levels? I mean, the "Stratums"

Currently, this Ruby Bishop Gate have...

Tier 1

Stratum 1: Fire
Stratum 2: Beast

Tier 2

Stratum 3: Beast
Stratum 4: Slime (Royal Jelly)

Tier 3

Stratum 5: Poison
Stratum 6: Slime

The next Ruby Bishop gate will be the same stratums said above?

And for People Thinking: "The Wiki says that they are randomly generated"
Please note, that this is my opinion, and the wiki is most of it contructed by other players and community, and it may not be 100% accurate.

And even if i am wrong.. It would be nice to "Map" the entire arcade, don't you think?

What's your opinion about it?

I'm pretty sure I've seen discussions about this before and the general idea is that names have nothing to do with the strata. If I'm not mistaken, something that supports this is that when we could affect the gates, they had their names generated before their content was decided by the players.

There are a couple recorded gates in this thread . You're welcome to try and draw conclusions with it. Unfortunately I didn't record status, but you will know that s6 is status if the monsters don't match between depths.

A Chinese Calendar-like Clockworks map.

Hm.. You got a point.

But nowdays? We can't control the gates anymore...
Anyway I have once wondered about drawing a circle-shaped map of the gates, with all it's stratums, all of them leading to the same place in the center, The Core.
Something ressembling a Chinese Calendar...

That would be awsome in my opinion!

(sorry my bad english.)

We can't control the gates

We can't control the gates anymore...

It's been that way a long, long time since we had any real control on how gates were formed. I'd even go as far as to say not since the beta before it was switched over to the release system.

We had control over gate formation up until late 2013, far after beta ended.

Arcade gate generation is random now. There is no pattern.

I'm aware of when the current gate creation scheme was put into place. What I'm saying is that back in the beta you could make an entire slime-themed arena gate or similar through careful mineral manipulation. There has been some level of control, but not as fine-tuned as it was.

It was fine-tuned because of a low population depositing minerals to a system that was well-advertised. There's been a few notable examples since when groups of players strategically deposited minerals to form constant gremlin-themed gates in hunt of DF shields, and also the huge ice-fiend problem that was encountered once sprites were created. There was also an ongoing approach to finding the 'hidden' theme.

It only seemed to dissipate because players lost interest in the technique and subbed it in for a few crowns. The past has proven that even a small group of players (around 20) could indeed influence gate creation, though.

@Lunarias

No, the post-beta gate creation was limited to just choosing monster type/status. And even then you got a slap on the wrist for trying to put two of the same type in a row.

Wait, I'm confused. What was there more to control during beta?
