We all know the problem with this event and most of us are seriously disappointed with it. I would urge the developers and other people on the OOO SK team to actually try to find a book (the legit non-code futzing way). If you don't play your game and your events you won't know what to fix. The SK community is well aware of just how horrible this event is; this event's greatest item is not available through good hard work but is handed out at random to anyone who kills a Black Kat. The chances of obtaining the Book of Dark Rituals is so astronomically low that one could play the event year after year and still not obtain it. Your players are getting fed up with this event, the only players who can make full use of this event are the ones capable of buying a Book off another player and those with the CR/CE to buy a slot in the Margrel party.

Allow us to trade in ancient pages for Books

280 pages for one Book (bound on trade) should be fair.

Considering the BK hood is 70 tokens (140% more than the other Base Kat hoods) and it takes 200 tokens to be able to craft a Class Kat hood.

This one little thing would make this event much more enjoyable and rewarding for the harder working players.

I agree.

Black Kats are already a completely random occurrence anyway, why would they make the book an ultra rare random drop from an already randomly-appearing enemy? They must just expect everyone that fights Margrel to shell out real money for Energy to a) Convert it to Crowns to buy the book from someone else, or b) Buy a (probably heavily overpriced) slot in a Margrel run. Either that or people haven't been vocal enough about it, and they just don't know how frustrating it is, but in that case, like you said, they still should playtest it to make sure it's alright instead of relying solely on our feedback.

....

I don't have a problem with randomly occurring enemies, my problem is that the Book itself is also randomly occurring. Basically you have an enemy that shows up a very low number of times and an item that has a lower appearance rate than the BK themselves, this compounds to a super low chance. CHANCE..... powerful items shouldn't be handed out by chance.

Grinchlin Stalkers have a low chance to drop a helm costume but the levels they appear in respawn them so the only trouble is surviving while going after that.

Grim Scarabs have a random appearance rate but they only drop tokens that go towards a helm costume

The Punkin King and Creep Cake monsters appear in random rooms in the clockworks but these are also costume helms

Fiends (during torto events) have a random chance to drop glyphs but not the key. Even if they could drop the key it wouldn't be bad since you can create it from the more common glyphs.

Mhmm.

I have a megathread on the subject that covers a large variety of options to make the event more enjoyable.

Personally I would say we should have a different kind of book... Perhaps a "tome of the dark ritual" that gives us the margel fight, however we only get pages and the whisker. This would give us the opportunity to only have the price per these tomes to be 100 pages or so. This makes the grind not bad at all, considering you can make 100 pages easily in just a few days, and also means more margel fights and would kill the prices for bringing people along on your margel runs. This makes the black kat raiment the grinder's armor, and the black kat cowl the lucky knight's helmet.

This doesn't mean black kat raiments are not still expensive... If you do it completely yourself it costs a total of 750 pages (150 for the fetishes, 600 for the tomes), however with a group of dedicated friends or a guild, the price can drop down to only 300 pages per person.

Since the event has become "don't grind for the pages, you want the book!", which is an absurd drop as is, we should bring the focus back to working together to find as many pages as possible. Reward the collecting of pages rather than punish those who aren't lucky.
