Love pups have HP trinkets
Mewkats have auras
Impostocubes have mustaches

Soul Lichen.... nothing
Rock Jelly..... nothing

I would like to have these monsters have some sort of drop table that makes them more than just a hard to find monster. Let us have the Skull from the Soul Lichen as a costume helm and make (Random Spawned) Rock jellies drop a Grim, Primal, and Forge Spark.

The primal spark thing would

The primal spark thing would change the whole system as its supposed to drop from boxes. But the soul jelly idea is good.

No to soul jellies and rock

No to soul jellies and rock jellies,

Edit:removing the already in game drops

@ Kian

Not sure if you are ignorant or trolling...... All the others listed have those drops, only Soul and Rock jellies don't have drops.

@ Bone

Rock jellies are the most common of the rare monsters so I thought having their drops be the super common tokens would be fine rather than some sort of accessory or trinket.

I like this quite a lot. I agree that the spark tokens need to stay out of monster drop tables though.

Rock Jellies could drop Rock Salt. This material is a "bane of jellies everywhere," but maybe the rock jellies are using some of it to train/be tougher! I think it would be funny, and it ties into the token idea, considering how players typically get rock salt with tokens.

The skull from the Soul Jelly reminds me of the King Slime Mask from Terraria. Bloop bloop! + Spoopy!

Hmm

I'll have to agree with Novaster here, rock jellies dropping rock salt would be a good balance. We need 2 jelly gems as of now, but you can also get it from the prize wheel. It's not overly common, but often times I find myself needing one for a monsterous research prestige mission.

Soul Jelly... Maybe something else? We have the authentic phantom mask from the dark harvest event sort of covering that... I'm really not sure what they should drop. A skull mask would be a good fallback as you're given, but I would personally rather them drop an accessory or trinket. Maybe they could drop vial bandoleers? Nothing we current have really fits them...

Just bein helpful - Brinks will give rock salt for either 2 Jelly Gem or 5 primals. You probably know that and just didn't type it, but, just in case!

Since some of the other rare monsters drop related, somewhat rare acc, why not have the Soul Jelly drop Node cosmetics (probably receivers, the ones for your head)? The spawn is rare enough. And the jelly is a head. And music is for the soul. And you should listen to what the spirits have to say. But node stuff isn't spooky (though shadow versions wouldn't be unreasonable, considering the colors and oddball acquisition methods for node things we've seen so far), and they are kind of high demand cosmetics.

Yeah, my thoughts too

I was considering node slime stuff, but none of them really would be a good choice since the node slime stuff is a high demand promo. Maybe it could drop a node slime container? Those aren't super high in demand in comparison to the receivers.

IMO-

How about there would be a whole new section for tokens dropped by Rock Jellys at Brinks. Then we could maybe trade gear, costumes or accessories for the tokens. Of course the appearence of a Rock Jelly will have to be made more rare.

Boneblinder, that's a very interesting idea. Why not have a new NPC (like Bechamel's cousin Veloute or something) who exchanges these rare monster tokens for cosmetics? Veloute could sit near Bechamel with like, grass in his/her mouth and always look asleep. That way, Brinks can stay material+gear. I don't think Brinks has much interest in making knights look fab, with that clunky tank appearance. Brinks just wants to ensure that knights are safe.

Rare monsters could always drop 1-3 token(s) when defeated, with Rock Jellies always dropping just 1. Set-spawn rock jellies wouldn't drop these at all. I would call the tokens "Glitter Specks" or something like that. The rare monsters could keep their current rare drop tables, like True Love Locket and so on, for added layers of surprise and joy - a shortcut through the potential hunt/grind for some, if you will. The price of cosmetics (which could be a random list of 10 things...with the pool being all known cosmetics...that regenerates every day per player like other Vendors in the Bazaar. With the huge number we have...the gigantic possibility pool + rare spawns would keep the economics relatively unchanged...oh gosh, I love this) would cost a reasonable number of tokens. Check every day! Encourages players to log on and play. And play together, too - invite friends to kill the rare spawn when you find them!

With this we escape the restriction of theme-to-rare monster, reward players for exploring the clockworks and murdering mostly innocent creatures, and give more options in general for effort while reducing the disappointment of RNG on top of RNG (spawn chance, then drop table).

EDIT: wording etc.

Thanks for appreciating my suggestion, and adding more life to it. Though we shouldnt be able to trade the True Love Locket, as the Love Puppy drops that. The tokens could be called "Hardcore Sparks".

But it's true love!

Yeah, trading True Love Lockets to each other seems like adding insult to injury :P. Normally I don't like things being bound because I like my options, but that's one that makes sense.

For the vendor list - should it be entirely random, or guaranteed to have one "rare" in the list (disregarding player economics and demand) if your knight is a Vanguard? This way people can't just farm with alts and log those on to check. They'd have to rank up their alts AND farm with them! Mwahahaha.

Sometimes the Jelly could

Sometimes the Jelly could maybe drop an item which we have to trade for the token. It would be a 1% chance though. The tokens would be bound and so will be the item traded for them.

i..

I agree for raremonsters to actually do something and not just be cosmetic, cause where is the incentive in that? Yay, your rare just for cosmetic, that is all their will be too it when i meet one of these monsters. So a complete yes to your suggestion.

Now for my suggestion, Make all rare monsters have some ability to make them harder to defeat, besides the love puppy (cause who wants to harm a cute pink lovey dovey puppy?).

- Mewkats: Once hit, it becomes enraged and haunt the player upon death. until that player gets out of the level, it will keep summoning kats near the player that drop 0 loot after the player. When the player dies, the curse is lifted.

- Impostocubes: Can take in the ability of any jelly cube near it where it can shoot spikes, explode upon death, do a status ailment and spin like the boss jelly. Would be cool to fight against.

- Soul Lichen: While the linchen is around, the player cannot pick up anything not even hearts until that linchen is destroyed. Wouldn;t that be troublesome.

- Rock Jelly: For every other block on that level, the same amount of rock jellies will spawn once one is found. They also will gain added defense the more jelly cubes are around them. Also every attack perform by this jelly has a chance to stun you, plus inflict high knockback. These guys are really tough anc can pack a punch. Better watch out!

Well what do you think?

@Blandaxt

I wouldn't want to change the current monster AI. But having a new monster, like a parent, come out to protect its innocent spawn (love puppy > Rocket Love Puppy oh lord) might be interesting. We know that the rares we see are not babies, considering Nonna's pockets. Some are probably like, toddlers. Mewkats are smaller than the friendly ones we see in Moorcroft. But not all rare spawns are innocent. Soul Jellies dislike you just as much as other slimes. You can see the loathing in its eye sockets.

Alternatively, the rares could be loved and adored by other monsters around (like I wonder why they are not preyed upon), so killing a rare would boost the attack power and movement speed of any monsters in an X tile range. I had a similar idea with love puppies and mecha knights here (please don't necrobump that thread, just read).

In truth, shushing my morals and murdering the poor things is enough of a challenge for me. Usually I let someone else kill them. Pixels are alive! ;n;

Agreed

@Novaster:i dont know if you play terraria, or just watched the video, or looked a the wiki, but good theory, a jelly dropping a mask
Reminded me of that, and i actually play terraria! More commonly on mobile version but very rarely i play on the pc version

Edit:how do i make proper anchors? Whenever i make one it either doesnt appear or the following line of text is also a link, i want proper anchors
