Make missions more optional.

To a player who wants to play SK as they could have before the advent of the mission system, many problems are posed. For example, if someone wanted to use the clockworks to level up gear and get crowns/materials, they would be prevented from doing so by the rule that restricts star level on equipment based on mission ranking. There is not even a clockworks substitute for missions. It would also be great if people could actually earn a profit by selling recipes as they once could, but the availability of most recipes in the Hall of Heroes prevents this. The following suggestions seek to remedy those problems stated above.

I. Make clockworks progress equivalent to mission progress. This means that a certain amount of progress in the clockworks would be able to level up a knight to the corresponding mission rank. For example, if a knight who had all full-heat 3* gear defeated the Royal Jelly, they would advance to rank 6 (Knight Elite) (and thus would be able to wield 4* gear as well as access the rank 6 missions). This way, one would not need to go through all the missions in order to progress; they would have the option of progressing through the clockworks. Other equivalents between clockworks and missions would be derived similarly as above.

II. Make Basil's prices lower than those at the Hall of Heroes. This change would make it possible for a player to get crowns by selling recipes. With the Hall of Heroes, knights don't need to go to Basil in the clockworks to get recipes; they need only to go to the Hall of Heroes and buy recipes for the same prices as they could at Basil. This makes it impossible to profit by selling recipes at the Auction House. However, lowering the prices at Basil would be an adequate solution: for example, setting the price at Basil at 3000 cr for a recipe that could be bought from HoH for 4000 cr would make it possible for a knight to profit by selling the same recipe anywhere between those two values.

Remember, the idea here is to make the clockworks playable and less obsolete.

No.

You don't seemingly know the crapiness of earlier times, and OOO will lose money. OOO WILL code a disadvantage for you. Just wait.

Eh.

We've had ideas in the past about making the arcade unlock missions, and I feel that would be the best way to go about making players unlock arcade-esk things. I don't think a player should just be able to skip over the missions however, as the missions themselves are setting us up for the plot and if we skip all early-game plot then by the time we get to the end we have no idea why we're even there.

Hall of Heroes should be the normal price. All Basil items should be at a 10% price reduction for pre-gunner update gears minus boss token items. Unique Basil recipes would thus remain at the current prices whereas Hall of Heroes recipes would be 10% less at Basil.

Orbs of alchemy drops are okay, however it might be good to bump them up on lower difficulties. As of right now, elite is the only good place to find them, and they should instead drop the same amount of orbs (but not fire crystals mind you) regardless of difficulty.

Mist energy is a big no-no. I can only see mist returning in the form of a rarity used to open small energy-related things in the clockworks (make these as rare as sparks of life or orbs), or a consumable that does the same thing with the rarity of a recon flare.
We cannot bring back mist energy in its retired state without bringing back elevator fees, and elevator fees turned off so many new players.

@op:

Interesting for our personal grind progress to give us some prestige points. I don't agree with the tittle changing part though. If we could earn at least one prestige point for every tier 1 boss, 2 for every tier 2 boss and 3 for every tier 3 bosses, I don't think it would break the game at all. It would just show that the guys who have the time and grind a lot would have high prestige. I feel I really like this idea where we can show off our grind effort we have put into the game.

Now about your other ideas:

1. "Make clockworks progress equivalent to mission progress."

Disagree with this idea. Before missions came out, there was still a star barrier that blocked off players. Tier 1 obviously had no warden blocking the way, but tier 2 and 3 had a warden there saying we have to have the appropriate star equipment in order to proceed. If it was up to me, I would remove the warden entirely or create a loop hole to pass by him without asking other players for invites. I would make it so that even if you do not have the proper gear, we would be able to advance based on our own peril. When we died though and have to return to haven, then I would introduce the wise warden that would chat to me once I get to haven and he would instruct me of the proper path. So yeah, I just hate barriers, we should be given options for our actions. Not forced on the proper path.

2."Make the prices at the Hall of Heroes higher than Basil's."

I would agree at first, but after seeing fangel's post, I disagree. Having things be made easier in basil and keeping hall of heroes the way it is reduces grind time for everyone. Doing the opposite and doing what you suggested, will increase the grind time for all 5 star players who want to upgrade quick. So having basil be at a lower price seems like the right move where you can spend less money for these items at basil and make profit off items not in the hall of heroes.

3." Make orbs of alchemy more common in the clockworks."

I always play elite, so their already pretty common for me. What I would do is make orbs much more common in deeper level danger rooms. Danger rooms that are towards the end of tier 1 after basil, tier 2 after basil and tier 3 after basil. This way, players who are willing to risk it can go for a try and get properly rewarded for their efforts. Anyway, this is what I would do.

Well, this is my take on your suggestion. It seems like your still around tier 3 and don't like the barriers like I did when I was tier 3. The best option you have is to ask a star 4 or 5 player to send you an invite. Good luck out there.

@Fight-Beetle: Actually, I was here before the mission updates and believe the missions to be a distict unimprovement from the previous system.

@Fangel: Well, many missions don't figure in any sort of macro-plot at all; maybe if OOO got rid of those but not the important ones? Also, I see the flaws in my ways for the "Orb of Alchemy" suggeations. Changing/deleting them.

@Blandaxt: Well, remember, I only want to make it possible to profit from Basil recipes. If lowering his prices instead of heightening those of HoH is the way to do it, then I'll change that.
For the barrier thing, if it was up to me, I would get rid of barriers also. I'm just trying to find a way to make clockworks grinding able to break barriers just as doing missions breaks barriers.
