Ingenious Catalyzer buff

First off I'm not talking damage.... (though I would like to see the Tags get buffed from 25% charge bullet damage to 35%)

Both before and after the Gunner update still the biggest problem facing Catalyzer users is teammates killing your targets or placing excessive tags on the enemy.

So here's my fix to this problem. If an enemy dies with tags still on them these tags will attach to the nearest enemy in the room. If you kill an enemy with a catalyzer blast and there are tags that don't do damage to anything (blocks, target enemy, surrounding enemy, frozen teammates, etc) then these tags will also seek out and attach to nearby enemies. Tags will fade if there aren't any enemies to attach to though.

I think the Catalyzer is ok

I think the Catalyzer is ok the way it is.

This is a good fix for the gun's current issues. Will tags have lifespan tweaks? Would there be adjustments to the number of tags allowed on the field at once?

I'd love it if I could stick tags on fellow players. If they dash, the tags detonate when they finish the dash, dealing dmg like always. The limits on tag duration/number would become more important for this, otherwise certain areas could be totally set up and we already have enough problems with this because we know where everything spawns (or might spawn). But it honestly wouldn't be that much of a problem considering spawn waves and general player impatience. Perhaps walking through any barriers, attacking, using a pickup, shielding, or even taking damage could neutralize tags on your person. If the tags could attach to other things (as OP has described), including players...and be detonated via dash when it's convenient... that would be a lot of fun playing. But then again, it would defeat the whole "use charge to set off the boom" thing, cause you could just prime up a bunch of enemies, shoot your team mate, and have them dash in. But that would also be fun. Unless you limit the dash boom to only tags on the knight who dashes, vs all tags in the vicinity. Or what if...instead of the dash, the player has to have a charged cata of any kind on them, and when they let THAT go, any tags on them go boom. Or you could just charge shoot them. That makes a lot more sense. I could ramble on for a good while. Team Catalyzer, go!

TL;DR: other factors? Can tags stick on knight butts too?

@ Bone

How often do you use the catalyzer when with a party of knights? Do you feel like you are doing as much damage as they are?

@ Dracora

OP Never said tags could stick to other things besides enemies. I said that if you detonate the tags and there would have been excess tags that had absolutely no effect (whether that effect be breaking boxes, blocks, ice on frozen allies, minerals, switches, etc.) then those excess tags would not detonate but re-attach to the nearest ally.

This is an interesting idea but I think this could be a new weapon line entirely.

The Lifespan of the tags would be shortened by about 15%. There would be no limit to the amount on the field so catalyzer teams and skilled switch-shooters can work this weapon to it's fullest extent.

I consider anything that damages me to be an enemy, sorry. Like siege wheels. Some people count those as monsters, I don't. They're just enemies. I thought it would be a really cool thing to have a bunch of sticky balls hovering over spike traps. Sorta like inverting the hazard to enemies. Anyway, sorry for the confusion. I see you mean monsters. Juuuuust monsters. Yas.

But now I'm more confused:

OP Never said tags could stick to other things besides enemies. Re-attach to the nearest ally?

Whoops typo, my fingers tend not to do what my brain tells them; I meant enemy.

When I mean enemy I mean anything that can be Auto-Targeted and take damage. Wheels would be counted in this but freed knights wouldn't since even though you can AT both only the wheels take damage. Rocket launchers on the other hand deal damage but can't be ATed so not affected.

Also important to note that the tags cannot re-attach to enemies on the other side of a wall or barrier. They can re-attack through enemy shields like the Trojan's.

Darn those brain fart things.

I was wondering - how quickly would these reattach? Like the speed of Mask's haunted haze things (since you mentioned seeking)? If it's not an instant teleport, enemy movements might make it change direction to an enemy that happened to wander closer than the last targeted one - maybe. That would be fun to watch actually.

I don't have a Maskeraith and have never actually seen the Haunted Haze effect so I have no clue how fast the bullets are. If I were to estimate I would say the seekers move the same speed as the regular catalyzer shots.
