I think that there should be an In-Game battle chat, using your own voice to contact your team mates. While you are typing a message to one of your friends an enemy can come up and take some of your heath away while you are still typing. For Example: In Team Fortress 2 you can talk to your team mates using your own voice and I've played Team Fortress 2 before and it proves to be much more useful. And for people who speak different languages then I don't know what to do about them.
In-Game Battle chatting
Not so sure about that, voice chat creates rifts in the players and opens others up to ridicule for the age or dialect their voice portrays. There are some upsides certainly but it would be better off if we kept the game as is and just assumed that everyone playing was average like us.
You also can't record voice chat as easily as a chat bar, a simple screenshot of the chat bar is all that is needed to report a player but if they call you names in voicechat you have no way of recording that (well you do but most players don't record every second of gametime)
If you make it a team-chat only thing, it's fine. If voicechat annoys you it's easier to disable it, and ignoring the person means that you don't have to deal with them.
Plus this isn't a replacement for text chat, just an addition.
How do other games handle verbal abuse? ik DotA 2 has voice chat, and they have to have some way to report people because... well, MOBAs.
You're opposing an implementation of a feature that's not only already implemented into one of the distributions of the game, but also overlooking that that distribution is the most used distributed install by percent?
This has been the case for years, and we haven't heard any glaring problems with the setup. So why not add the feature to the other distributions?
Do you mean like voice chat?
Because voice chat is a steam feature in-game, but only for the clockworks. Would be nice if it was integrated into the game and put in Lockdown as well.
Unless you mean the quick commands, such as the text menus. We sort of have those, but it would be nice to have like, 5 chat messages we could bind to a key.
