New Attack Power

Right now, all weapons, bombs, guns and swords, have two attributes (attack powers):

damage type/strength
speed

I think a third could be added to this: Reach

Reach deals with the distance that someone can attack from.
A weapon with more reach doesn't need to be as close to attack as a low reach weapon would need to be.

Like speed, reach doesn't really change if upgraded via alchemy. For example, brandish and fireburst brandish would have the same reach, like they have the same speed.

Reach could be a new unique variant, increasing the necessary distance by small but significant amounts.

This is interesting. It does work for every weapon differently too. This also opens up the ability to have built-in UVs for weapons that branch off, such as the obsidian edge having a built in reach UV of medium.

This is another component that would be thoroughly abused with UVs though.
Now you have 3 UVs to go for in lockdown. Imagine the pain it would feel to be hit by a sealed sword a good 2 tiles away from where yours can hit? The person with damage max, msi: med, ASI: max, CTR: max, and reach: VH would be hysterically overpowered.

However, such UVs on guns and bombs are not as overpowered because of the nature of the weapon.
I would say have a maximum "reach" for all weapons of every type. This means that a cutter will benefit from a reach of MAX much more than a flourish or a sealed sword would. Let's say that the maximum reach is 3 tiles. A cutter has a 1 tile reach, and a flourish has a 2 tile reach. If both had MAX reach on them, the cutter would extend up to 2.5 tiles, whereas the flourish would only hit 3 tiles. That's an example for you, as the flourish may have a longer reach and thus would get even less out of something like this.

Similarly, bombs might have a maximum reach of 5 tiles while most 5* bombs have a regular reach of 4, therefore shard bombs and the dark retribution would benefit much more. Guns, similar. Let's say 7 tile range. Catalyzers would travel 6 tiles, and blasters only 5.

(NOTE: all of these values except the cutters are off the top of my head, and are likely not the exact numbers. They are for visualization only)

So if we tag a maximum across all weapon types, sure, I'd love to see this sort of thing in the game. If it's just a percentage increase like most other weapons, I'll have to say no to it.

+1, but perhaps if swords get UVs, they will be too powerful! I would be fine with only handguns and bombs having a UV radius increase. But the meter being shown would be awesome.

i think..

I feel that some swords like the barbarous thorn should have a built in reach uv on it. Sense the blade is some sort of plant weapon, it would make sense that it would have the ability to grow longer and reach farther when using the 3rd or 2nd lunges. Also, we could make it that some sword swing animations grow longer to show the effect of the reach uv.
