For being someone who has been playing this game for a while, and never tampered with the market, can someone explain in a detailed manner how it works?
Break the Ice: How is the Market tab work?
How do players choose which post goes to the trade tab?
The Trade tab is just a simplified version of the Market tab. It shows you offers from the same pool shown on the Market tab, but just the best ones.
The Trade tab shows you the lowest sell offer from the Market tab, and lets you post a buy order at that price. If you do, then you are instantly matched up with the seller, the trade executes, and that sell offer is removed from the Market tab.
Symmetrically, the Trade tab also shows you the highest buy offer from the Market tab, and lets you post a sell order at that price. If you do sell, then that buy offer is removed from the Market tab.
So, to answer your question, both tabs post orders into the same underlying market. In the Trade tab those orders are forced to match up with other offers, and so they can be immediately executed. In the Market tab those orders may not match up and so they hang around until they match or are cancelled.
Does that help?
Yes, thank you for the clarification! Off to be a merchant!
This wiki page explains it: http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Energy_Depot. The user interface shows the highest offers to buy and the lowest offers to sell. You can post either one. If your offer is accepted, then you get the crowns/energy credited to your account as usual (I mean, just as if you'd bought them through the other tabs).
Is there a particular aspect that you'd like explained better?
