I don't really have many ideas on it but it would be cool to have such a thing, and possibly new enemies since lockdown classes are much stronger than regular shields
Missions that allow Lockdown's special classes (striker guardian recon)
It would be interesting if you could use lockdown shields in levels but for the sake of balance there would have to be some tweaks made.
Striker: For striker there would have to be a reliable way to recover HP. In regular LD the striker class would be much less used if the heal pads at the base were removed or prevented from healing strikers, in PVE the striker would have no way to protect themselves in a bullet storm and would need enemies to almost always drop HP.
(Striker also has the problem of leaving their allies behind)
Recon: The current recon shield doesn't deathmark monsters or prevent them from tracking you. Monsters would also need some programming on them to attack at random when attempting to fight a recon otherwise it becomes a broken class.
Guardian: The Guardian can restore HP and the only thing that can hinder this is relatively constant pressure on the shield. The levels would have to have respawning enemies to prevent the guardians from camping and keeping full HP.

As it is I wouldn't support it, the level would have to be tested a lot and the classes reworked a bit.

I completely agree with your post holy. It would have to be reworked, but it would be cool to have new kind of ld matches and new objectives when fighting other players to complete that mission. Like these missions would still retain it's pvp element, but also full of pve monsters to make on hell of a war ZONE!
the first thing that pops into my mind after reading the title: the mission version of arenas!
in my eyes they got nerfed in grade of difficulty but they got strengthened in terms of spiral-knight-hq things like guarding towers, defense sand bags, wooden path blockers, spikey fence etc.
so the thematic of spiral-knight-hq own mechanics like the lockdown shields would fit here.
uh, at this point my post is already longer than your suggestion after all. why dont you just tell us the reason behind it? how did you get this idea, what is the purpose of it and how would you integrate it to fit it into the current gameplay without disturbing the existing one?
I may like to add this idea:
it could be made inside a core-theme arena in which it does not generate crowns or heat but it offers just a new gimmec to fight monsters in another way.
